Hi, new here, I need help regarding burn taste

Hi everyone

A little bit about me, I quit smoking on the 30th sept 2015, I had previously tried a few months back, and used a vivid vapour e-cig, I just used juice from the vivid brand that you can get in local shops, after about a week my throat was really sore and swollen and felt like it was closing up, I took to th Internet and read that some people are allergic to the PG which can cause issues, so I then switched to pure 100% VG which worked for a while, but then I think it was just too thick for my e-cig, I wasn't able to get a good puff on it and there was almost no vape cloud, and no throat hit and I just stopped using it and went back to tabs

Then a few weeks ago my friend suggested the curve mini 2 e-cig which she uses, so I got myself one of those, the woman in the shop told me my coil (is that what it's called) would need changing every four weeks or so, she showed me the coil and told me to put a drop of liquid in each of its holes (which she did with the one I had just bought) so all was well for 22 days, loved my e-cig, I discovered if I turned it up to 4.5 volts (it goes from 3.3-5.5) I got a lovely warm, flavoursome hit with a nice amount of cloud (still using 100%VG) then on Thursday it burnt out, I quickly went to the shop and got some replacement coils.

i put liquid in the holes like the woman originally said, then started vaping half an hour later, but again I had the burnt taste what did I do wrong? Yesterday it was really getting to me and after a google I wasn't sure if I was meant to put quite a lot of liquid in the holes? So I did that with the remaining new coil, and all is well at the minute but I'm vaping at 3.5 volts cos I am scared to turn it up to 4.5 in case I get the burn taste again? 

Also so I don't really understand the whole volts and wattage thjng? I can also change the wattage on the machine, it goes from 8-20 watts it's currently on 8 which is what it was on when I bought it? 

Im sorry if this isn't a clear post lol, I just need help in knowing how to change the coil and have it so I don't get immediate burn and help knowing what the settings mean on my machine

I am by no means an expert only been vaping about 6 weeks but I always saturate any new coil I put more than one drop in each hole i drop liquid in the holes until it will not
soak up anymore I don't put any down the centre hole though. I then wait about five minutes before I start vaping it.
As regards to volts/watts I never go above what the coil states I keep within that range.
My Istick 50w is variable v/w but which ever you change the other I will change too if that makes sense.
I'm sure someone with more experience than me will be able to help you further.

The coil needs to be saturated to wick well rach1981 so it sounds like you didn't put enough juice into the holes. To help with wicking on a new coil take a few puffs without firing this pulls the juice into the wicking material and usually only need to done on a new coil. With the volts and wattage it will only use the last that you set either one or the other and is best to just try for the setting you prefer with whatever juice you are using as different juices taste better at different settings. I personally use watts and range between 7 - 9 but I am not a cloud chaser.

Hi and welcome,

Once you drop your liquid onto your coil stick it back in the tank and fill it up and leave for 2-5min. It just soaks up more juice and should avoid burnt taste, all info above is good so try all the ways above first.

Put the device in watts mode and forget about volts mode, far easier and you'll get a consistent Vape in watts even if you put a different coil in with a different resistance.

I don't recognise your coil heads but it's possible the new coil you got is a lower resistance than the original coil which would explain the burnt taste, if your set up in voltage mode and you put a coil in half the resistant of the original coil then you'll hit the new coil with twice the power.

I realise the above may not make sense yet and may not actually be the case but even so, put your curve in watts mode

Yep, +1 for info above rach1981 - the cotton in a new coil is dry, so needs to be saturated with juice so that it will wick further juice from the tank to the coil where it is vapourised.
Once you have put a few drops of juice in each of the side holes, reassemble your tank and give it a few pulls through the driptip without depressing the fire button - this pulls more juice into your wick.
Then as flavourtank suggests, leave for about 5 minutes to allow the juice to fully fill the wick, and then you should be good to go.
One further question which may help us - what resistance are your coils? It should state it somewhere on the coil or the packaging - might be 1.2ohm or 1.8ohm. This will help us advise better on what wattages to use, although the good advice is start low and slowly crank it up until it just starts tasting a bit burnt, and then eas back a couple of notches to find the 'sweet spot' when the flavour and vapour is at its best!

Looks similar to a joyetech coil.
These will need an very good priming if there anything like an egrip coil.
You really want to apply drops of juice to the 4 holes more than once.
then a drop in the top hole to make sure its saturated inside and stand it on a kitchen towel to allow excess to sink down through the coils.

rach1981, plenty of good advice already... there is a bit of a learning curve with this stuff (I've been vaping a couple of months and learning constantly) but you don't need to know too much to get a decent experience that will keep you off the fags.

Don't let that put you off, all you really need to know is what works for you, and there are plenty of experienced folks here to help you out with any problems.

Yes but start low and work up slowly till you get what you want
