I read this earlier (thanks to a new 'feed' on Windows 10). It's a sort of insanity Raffles, don't let it wind you up. Basically, the way I read it smokers tend to avoid too much alcohol when trying to quit and now they have e-cigs it's not happening. and we say "so bl**** what" and this tells us ? ? nothing. Easy copy for lazy journalists with news feeds arriving to their computer so they can pretend to be journalists and get paid for supposedly doing a real job. Twits. (OK, so it wound me up... )

"Normally when people quit smoking the added benefit is they drink less" I'm sure that's the other way around, when people drink they smoke more (a lot more in most cases).. So if people quit drinking they would smoke less and there's also a lot of people who only smoke when they drink for some strange reason?? Beats me..

Nicotine attaches to a receptor in the brain that makes drinking more pleasurable (amongst other things), so when people quit the stinkies, it seems a couple of things happen. First off, smokers who drink are caught up in the whole "fag and a pint" psychology, so to combat the time they are at their weakest, willpower-wise, many people trying to quit smoking also cut down or stop drinking. The second thing is that vapers still get the "extra" pleasure from drinking because they are still taking in nicotine, and because their psychological needs are also being met (hand to mouth, "fag and a pint" etc), in most cases they see no need to change their drinking habits. Personally, I've found that I drink less when vaping, although that might also be a consequence of approaching 50 Then there's the pub scenario. Picture if you will, a time when you had to go outside to smoke, but the pub didn't allow glasses outside and you don't want to leave your drink unattended. The result? Quicker drinking, as some people neck their drink before going outside, then back in and order another drink. Contrast that with a pub which allows vaping, and what I see is completely different, with a relaxed atmosphere, no furtive scurrying outside, no corner of shame and no segregation of drinkers amongst the vapers there.

When the smoking ban started people stopped going to pubs and started drinking at home. Now that you are allowed to vape in pubs these people are starting to go out more. Its nothing to do with drinking more.

Look at it this way...the Pubs that currently ban vaping (..I'm thinking particularly of a certain big chain that's just had an Ale Festival, wiv £2 pints...) may ban Their bans....'Vaping encourages buying more drinks...= bigger profits! Vape (& Drink..) away!' It could happen....They're still selling 'Evil Carcinogen of the Week'...Bacon!
Ban 'papers....a 'study' proves that they reduce Your I.Q.

You can tell you've got a drinking problem when you keep spilling it. Sorry - it's a Daily Mail story... the only other remotely constructive thing I can do is to post this And whilst I'm at it, from one of the best gigs I've been to... In response to Making a boob of herself! Amanda Palmer's breast escapes her bra as she performs on stage at Glastonbury (open that one incognito - you don't need the cascade of cookies and other dross( (and no, it's not work-safe and yes, she encouraged everyone to film it, and no, despite countless postings The Daily Mail didn't cover it)
