55w 480f today Coils were put in last Sunday and I've rewicked once I'll probably rewick again tonight. The wire seems to harden a bit after use and seems quite easy to deal with

davetherayon I doubt it is 40 AWG that would be far to thin, the stuff I have from SV is 0.4 mm 26 AWG.

Well Ive used this a week now near as dammit. It vapes bloody fantastic imo and it's so smooth. Great stuff to work with as well and the flavour seems good enough. But I have a major gripe... I never liked using NI200 because of the black gunk it seeped so much into my wicks so quickly. Harmful or not it put me off. This being 70% nickel is doing similar but not as much seeping. But what I don't like it all the minute black bits it's producing. I mean after a couple of days my wicks and chimney are covered in black bits like it's been doused with a black pepper grinder. Now I take good hard airy draws and I'm quite concerned about how much of this is getting into my lungs and this morning I've woke up with a bad chest. Related or not I don't know but it's concerning me big time. I'm really pished about this as I was really enjoying the vape itself but I don't think it's for me

jtc did you pulse the coil? I initially didn't but after a while did the 600F - pulse till tc kicks in - wash under the tap thing, and after a day of constant use there's no black bits (tm) in the chimney or drip tip of the Bellus. Or it may be related to the temp and power settings we're using.

Probably just what is left from your liquid boiling off at lower coil temp jtc, if it came from the coil if would change the coil's appearance to.

Just had a look at my set up, which is an Aromamizer SC200 on top of a VapingBad ERM @ 430F & 60w dual coil vertical build and although the wicks & coils look fairly dark/black, the chimney is very clean after 2 tankfuls - just put the last 3ml of Nick's Ninja Loops in and it still tastes good.

Checked my NiFe build, no black bits to speak.
Having played with SS316L and NiFe30, I think I am going back to kanthal.
