So my grandad has been on nicotine gum for years and has seen my riva kit today and wants one. The problem is I'm not sure how he'd cope with filling cartos etc. is there anything else I can suggest to him that may be easier for him? Oh and he's not fussed about different flavours, he just wants a tobacco flavour. Thanks x

Either of those would be much easier for him but can either of them be charged via mains adapter? My grandad is a bit of a technophobe lol and doesn't have any USB points at his house so wouldn't be able to charge them unless they could be charged via mains. In terms of how much gum he uses, I'm not sure exactly but it's A LOT!!!!! Lol he has a piece, finishes it and almost straight away pops another in and as far as I'm aware they're high nic.

I'm just thinking, I'm slightly uneasy about this. I wouldn't like your Grandad to use vaping as a way back to smoking, at least the gum is keeping him off the nasties?
Most vapers seem to have failed to stop smoking by any other method!

Yeah I was thinking that myself to be honest coz he's lost all association with inhaling etc if that makes sense so vaping would bring that back. He's saying that the gum is giving him a sore mouth, don't know what to suggest to him

It's a difficult one isn't it? I wonder what the more experienced vapers think?
Obviously he's still very addicted to nicotine and if he's anything like my dad, once he's got an idea into his head there's no stopping him.

I would start him of on a Riva type kit & maybe some pre-filled cartos. You could even give him a couple of Riva type battery & you charge it up for him.
Sounds like he's still addicted to nicotine, but because he has quit smoking, he might get away with vaping & not go back to the ciggies.
In fact, if you have been quit that long, he probably couldn't tolerate ciggies anyway.

Fair comment Hissie, but I think under the circumstances I would start him off with just 1 cig-a-like See how he gets on, you can always have it for a spare Bee Did he try the Riva?

Yeah he's tried it, he kept forgetting to press the button lol so I think the cig alike may be a better option but other than the button issue he liked it. He also liked my ry4 liquid lol he's definitely not getting his hands on that it's mine alllll mine!!!!

Has he definitely stopped smoking altogether? My Dad's 90 and I'm pretty sure he doesn't smoke now but I thought he had stopped, completely 30+ years ago. when we were clearing out my mum's things we found photos of him with a ciggie in his hand about 10 years ago What does his Doc think about him still using so much nicotine chewing gum?

He's definitely not smoked since he retired 3 years ago ( my grandma would literally kill him if he had lol) but before that he worked as a lorry driver so was not at home for 5/6 days of the week, so realistically I suppose he could have been sneakily smoking while working.

Oh an the doc is constantly telling him to cut the gum down. He's gone from 4mg to 2 but can't seem to cut down any more.
