Hi all, I got my first e-cig on Friday, an instant E-Lites CURV - I figured it would be a good one to try out to see if I liked vaping. At first I was very happy with it and kept saying to myself, "I'm smoking a cigarette that's not unhealthy!" I was glad to see I hardly even missed baccy. But I've realised it's probably too expensive to vape long term - I was a light smoker of Amber Leaf rollies which cost me about £6 a week, but with CURV refills costing £4 each, I estimate it would cost £14+ a week! I've heard you can manually refill the tips with juice, but as a newb am not sure if I trust myself with that - and I can't see any info online about refilling CURB tips specifically. So, I figure I'd be better off getting something less expensive in the long term. Being poor, am looking for something relatively cheap, especially as I've spent £29 already on E-Lites gear - and being a former rollies smoker am not looking for a particularly classy vaping experience! Just something that does the job and keeps me off the baccy. So I thought I'd see if you experts had any recommendations Any suggestions much appreciated, thanks in advance..

Hello & welcome scoops There really are much cheaper alternatives to E-lites. Do you mind what your e-cig looks like?

welcome aboard scoopsfirstly youll need to out lay some cash for a decent setup but will last you a while 30watt istick and a nautilus/mini will be around £50 at UK prices IIRC. You can probably get a decent ego system for less but will have no resale value should your needs change and fancy an upgrade. £1 liquids on the net deliver cheap and cheerful juices to your door and is about as economical as you can get. Good luck.

Welcome to AAEC scoops that's a very tight budget. From the looks of it the Curv is a cigalike job they're all pretty much made the same way so this video should be able to help you refill the carto, it's very easy to do. They don't hold or take a lot of liquid to refill so a bottle of juice should last you a good while. You can get eliquid cheap here for £1 a 10ml bottle www.onepoundeliquid.com/Shipping is £1.80 for 1 to 8 bottles so probably worth ordering a few bottles for a total of £4.80 including shipping and they should last you ages.

Welcome to AAEC i cant add much beyond the advice above, other than suggesting chinese suppliers like fasttech.com and gearbest.com for battery boxes(mods) and attomisers, the delivery delay of a week or 3 is a pita but the prices ar way lower than uk shops and sites as a rule. welcome to backy free lungs and vaping

Hi scoops to AAEC. The advice Get Off My Cloud gave about refilling will help you keep the cost down. If that e-cig is keeping you off the baccy, stick with it. And well done for switching. However, if you find that you go back to smoking baccy, ask here for better gear to use that won't break the bank, or be too flashy.

Welcome scoopsE-Lites are my 'specialist chosen subject' Make no mistake, they are the kings of the expensive e-cig. When I started they would have cost £3,200 a year not even counting the cost of replacement batteries. Add to that the fact they didn't work (I couldn't stop smoking using them) and they threatened me through websites where I had left negative comments, my entire life was ruined trying to make them work for me. (Problems at work and home from Nicotine withdrawal). If you can refill what you have, you should do that while you research your options. Good luck. Please help the e-cig community (the new people) send these charlatans to where they belong.

I just knew djs would be all over this when I saw the title Nice one! It's a strange but true fact though without the dreaded E-Lites and JacVapour, I'd never have found this forum. Think of all those hours I could have spent over the last 3 years doing something useful. I'd have missed Vapefest though... and not met all you lovely people.

Hi all, thanks very much for all the recommendations Chrissie, I'm not bothered about appearance as long as it's not bright pink or something, since I'm male phtumshk, am not sure what you mean about why the ego system having no resale value, but like I say, if it does the job I would think I'd be happy to keep it (can always upgrade if/when I'm rich, if I still vape then ) Are there any ego systems you'd recommend? droog, am still not sure if I feel safe refilling like that guy does, with all the talk about the dangers of touching or swallowing the juice etc! I may give it a go though. I'm pretty much out of refills now, so I'll need to either get some more tomorrow (another £8!) or get some juice and try the DIY. Not sure where from - do you reckon somewhere like Poundland would be ok? Hey thanks again for all the help, much appreciated..

Some one is sure to know of a decent budget kit for ya. Do what ever it takes to keep your self of the rollies is the main objective.

Ah don't worry mate a couple of drops isn't going to do any harm, it's best to be safe when using concentrated nicotine to make your own juice but nothing's going to happen if you get a few drops of ready mixed stuff on your skin. As long as you leave the carto for a while like a few minutes to fully soak the liquid into the filer material you shouldn't get any liquid in your mouth. Here's a cheap ego setup if fancy trying one £2.86 for the battery, clearomizer and usb charge cable. www.fasttech.com/products/0/10018096/3727208-ect-h2-ego-t-650mah-rechargeable-e-cigarette8 spare clearomizers for £3.91 www.fasttech.com/products/0/10007168/3652206-h2-bottom-coil-clearomizer-8-piecesBigger capacity battery £2.23 www.fasttech.com/products/3001/10004043/3012700-ego-t-1300mah-rechargeable-e-cigarette-batteryThe charge on this battery will last twice as long as the one in the kit. That's a Chinese vendor so shipping might take several weeks but the prices are dirt cheap, everyone here uses this site it's safe.

I read somewhere on here that Home Bargains (they also go under another name that eludes me at mo), sell a fairly decent kit for under a tenner, got some good write ups, worth investigating if you have local store. LiQuid, do some decent liquids for £1 with fast service. Good luck
