Well......that was an eye eyeopener....we all knew they were doing it, but nice to have it all shown to everyone on national TV.

Now... if someone can find a trail from big tobacco lobbyists to #tpd ..... Ideally with some big pharma links
(that was the first time I've unthinkingly added a hash to something - I wonder if OED has symbols)

We have seen irrational outbursts from the W.H.O. about vaping which just astonished us in the past. The kind of outbursts that I for one couldn`t understand from a respected organisation who were supposed to be caring about saving lives. This puts a whole new light on things as well as deep suspicion about behind closed door meetings that had started out as something totally different. One where the press and public were locked out unexpectedly. What struck me at the time was "how on earth can they believe those things that they are preaching?". It certainly did not seem to be unbiased and rational at the time.

Just watched. The WHO is briefly depicted as a victim of BAT's illegal activity. Is there any one anywhere shocked that a tobacco company has no moral scruples; it would be bigger news if they had any ethical values.
It is like the international football bribes scandal had been reported entirely as evidence of corruption in the Russian and Quatar governments with FIFA as an innocent force for fair play.

Just watched. The WHO is briefly depicted as a victim of BAT's illegal activity. That annoyed me as well. Takes two for a bribe to happen. I don't think panorama would need to dig very far with the WHO I am sure BAT will now be fully laywer-ed for this, it will be a long time before we see what happens. Nick

The problem for BAT is all the lawyers are on a retainer to VW already Seems there's a revolt against the money grabbing, lying, immoral corporatism...

I've not seen it, but ask a few people what they think of tobacco companies and they say "No, not for me, never, over my cold and dead body" Then tell them their pension relies on tobacco companies and people do need to die from smoking so they can S.K.I their way to a luxury retirement and suddenly, it's OK. Good to see double-standards alive and well in middle-income's-ville.

its tobacco and arms/weapons futures that are sustaining the US and UK economies atm, without them the chinese BoP surplus would bankrupt us.

BAT have been killing people for over a century and continue to strive to do so by fair means or foul. The number of smokers who used their brands and died because of it since 1902 must be a very scary number. Who knows what influences are behind the W.H.O. s totally irrational and misinformed rantings which have had a major influence on the EU s regulation and legislation.

I have a brain. You have a brain. All our members have a brain. Politicians have a brain(no matter how lame or corrupt). Anyone with a brain can deduce that TPD is a blatant attempt to maintain state revenue from tobacco taxes.
BAT fill pockets to ensure they make their money, the company thrives, politicians thrive, consumers die.
Any MP, MEP or anyone else with even the most tenuous link to any tobacco or pharma company should never have been allowed within a mile of TPD, but unfortunatly that hasn't been the case. Countless deaths lie ahead due to corruption.
