The mainboard model/no is printed on the board but can be difficult to see through all of the other boards and cables. If you can see it look up the board on google and follow any links that instruct on dual bios recovery. If this dosn'y work you will need to take it for repair as i believe you wont have to equipment to do any tests. Power supply will most certanly need checking.

if the above works you need a battery, do yourself a favour and buy them in a bulk strip off amazon or ebay (amazon ships faster normally) and they should cost you around 1.99 including postage for 5 or more /
there normally cr2032 cells

Much appreciated. before you go try unplugging everything from the motherboard then attaching the power connectors (should be a 24 pin and a 4 or 8 pin) with just the gfx card connected to the monitor and the keyboard plugged into the ps2 slot it should boot to bios if you alternately tap the del and f2 keys, if you bring up the bios screen let us know, if the problem is with something else that's plugged into the mobo this will show it up, if you get into the bios screen hit the power button and switch off, and report

Roscopecotrain my predictions for pc world: if they find a psu fault they will declare that it has killed everything else. if they find a mobo fault they will declare it has killed everything else if they find a cpu fault they will say it has killed the mobo and the ram as well if they find a ram fault they will say its also killed the cpu in all of the above fault situations it will be cheaper for you to buy one of their "cheap " pc's because they are rip off merchants and 90% of the time don't even bother to look at things that they didn't sell in the first place, and as chrisjw said probably wont even have a pretend look at it until after crimbo. if you take it to a reliable but busy local pc shop they will probably look at it and give you an honest fault list with the advisory that other things might be affected and offer to source supply and fit the part with a modest markup, from the diagnostic so far my feeling is either the mobo or the psu is the likely culprit but it could still be a problem with something innocuous like a card reader

Gone to my local pc shop and it is free to diagnose what is wrong with it. well if there offering that for free then lets hope they don't surcharge their parts to much to balance it out though if your using one of the steampunk hippy shops you should be fine anyhow, they tend to be against unmitigated greed and prefer to give everyone a happy feeling so they get more customers and big word of mouth results
