Sub oms?

Hello I only make my coils at between 1.8 oms & 2.2 oms. I use Penelope's ithaks & kayfun lite plus tanks on eleaf I stick.
What is the benefit of using sub oms coils please, me a bit of a dumbo on this matter..

From my limited use, it just produced a warm vape which I did not find pleasant.

I too would like to know the advantages of sub-ohming.
Does it give you a longer battery life?
Does it improve the taste?
Do you get more for your bucks in the way of satisfaction?

I am a commited Kanger sub tank user.Yesterday I had a "short" message and rather than mess about I used one of the spare RBA heads from Fasttech.Refilled and then took a toke.My god I thought that is good.Then I looked at the screen to see if I had altered the power but no,The ohmes read 2.0 so from now on no sub ohm

Sub-ohm vaping requires more power but will give you denser vapour and better flavour. I'd also say that it mostly isn't designed for "mouth to lung" style vaping although others may disagree with me on that.

As an example my Bellus tank currently has a dual coil build that comes out at 0.3 and I'm vaping at 50w. It could probably take more than that.

Ron you may have noticed a jump in flavour because you weren't running enough power through the sub-ohm coil. I'm assuming it was a 0.5 ohm coil you had in there previously? What wattage were you vaping at?

catface26 it was firing at 20 watts great smooth cool vape full of flavour

Ron let's assume you're using a 3.7v battery - optimum power for a 0.5ohm coil should be 27w. It's all subjective tbh as people have their own sweet spots but I certainly vape at between 27 and 30w in a subtank with a 0.5ohm coil. I do build my own rather than use the stock ones though.

Was the airflow wide open?

It is all personal preference at the end of the day but it's called a subtank for a reason.

Would explain why it's too warm over 15w I reckon. The more air getting to the coil, the cooler the vape.

The satisfaction I get from vaping instead of smoking has to be my foremost and paramount consideration.
That satisfaction is decided when I am making up my e-juice and that quality comes well before any juice hits the coil.

Next on the priority list is how smooth it is.
Then taste.

Things like throat hit and vapour are well down the list.

So, I guess, for me, sub ohming and the like, I will leave for others, but thanks for the input. Now I know that it is not something that interests myself.

Don't knock it until you try it I always say Lobey . . . . it's a style of vaping that held no interest for me, until I did.

Whilst I don't ' subohm ' exclusively, it makes a pleasant change - it's helped keep my interest in vaping fresh.

Very true Perpetua ... It is very easy, especially for us oldies, to settle for what we are used to and not embrace new developments. Subohm vaping is worth a try at least and if you find it is not for you, you can recoup most of your outlay in the classies. A subohm kit (istick 60 and subtank mini clone) can be had from China for less than £30 so my advice is give it a go, you don't know what you are missing out on until you try it.
