Thank you all. It's been a pretty good if completely off plan and frantically busy kind of day. I thought you folks might want to see my fav pressies...  An explanation of items in the picture ... A rather fine shaving brush from Mum - (for 75% of my adult life I've been bearded and the rest has been shaved with an electric razor... I left the razor behind at Mum's (who posted it back, but I was away elsewhere for another week) so I picked up some not so cheap eco-kill cartridges, gunk in a can and made do... Quite liked it (haven't used the electric since)... me being me, I wasn't satisfied and at the start of this year I bought a DE Safety Razor and started inhabiting another forum to learn... I now seem to be acquiring another form of shiny as well as ours and becoming a bit of an exper.... Because I'm not in a position to undertake non-voluntary work, my father has bought me a course on medieval history As I really enjoyed the `making of` drama over Christmas, my wife bought me Dad's Army (complete bar the lost episodes of season 2)... And I received this birthday card which I reckon you might all enjoy. The underlying jigsaw is an antidote (for I've overdone it rather with one of my voluntary works and it's quite a good therapeutic / calming / centring activity - today is a good day, btw).
