Good morning all,
I'm a long time member of the forum but it's been over 2 years since my last post, but the forum was great for me when starting out so I'm back again.
I decided to get into sub-ohm so I've got myself an istick tc40w with a subtank mini on the way. I'm planning on using the rba on the mini with ni200 coils.
I used to rebuild my evod heads so I'm comfortable with rebuilds and I've got the right testing stuff for reading the resistance.
The one thing I've not decided on is nice strength. I've struggled to get down from 24mg over the last couple of years but I understand I can't be sub ohming at that level?
So I've taken the plunge of getting back into mixing too and have all the stuff on order, so the question is, what nic strength should I look to mix at?
I have in my head 6mg, but seems like a big drop to where I am now.
Any pointers would be great.

You'll be able to dilute it, after all. I haven't got a subtank, but 12mg was fine for me in the original Atlantis and Arctic (I was on 18-24 mg in Nautis before) but anything above 6mg in the Smok TFV4 makes me go a bit light headed. I put nickle coils in the Subtank using the RBA head, I have 2 recommendations for you. 1. Use the RBA Plus head with the 2 side holes, much easier to get the wicking right : www.fasttech.com/products/0/10014112/2390700-authentic-kangertech-subtank-mini-rba-plus-coil2: Use the pre-wound Nickle coils like these : www.fasttech.com/products/3033/10015377/2993400(I just used Fasttech as an example) YOU NEED TO CHECK if the iStick can fire 0.2 ohm coils, if not you may struggle to build your own 0.5 ohm coils in the RBA head as you will need lots of wraps, you may not have the space. As said above start higher with your mixes, you can always go down by dilution easily. I used to MTL at 12 - 18mg and now use 3mg on my sub ohm gear. Good luck!

The first sub ohm tank i had was the original Subtank the big one. I was vaping 18mg at the time, i dropped straight down to 6mg and had no problems.

With temperature control you may not have to drop your nic levels all the way down to 6mg, perhaps 10-12.
Its not so much the sub-ohming of mechs and hairy arsed coils or high airflow /hot coiled tanks that created the category, you wouldn't be able to fit a 1.8ohm Ni200 coil in to start with. With TC wattages control a) the heat up time b) the amount of vapour, so technically unless you start by cranking up the watts and blowing big clouds your extra nic intake might not be as much as you think. There is high chance that you might get a little light headed playing with your new toy but once you get used to the new gear your vaping style might not actually change that much.

Personally think you should cope with 6mg fine, but instead of making 12mg and having to dilute to 6mg and loose quite a bit of flavour why not make 6mg and add a little bit of nic, that way you'd be loosing less flavour..
