Yep good ole BT again. To be fair their uptime is pretty reasonable, but their customer service is diabolical... the sooner they get it back from Asia, and hand it to a sweet talking Scottish or Geordie girl the better. I still can't access my account on their website after years of trying, I just gave up speaking to 'John' from 'who knows where' simply because we couldn't communicate. One thing that did worry me today was although I didn't intend to go online until tonight, the fact that I couldn't, really wound me up. Have we become so dependent on the web for everything?... and how easy it would be to create chaos if a 'core' cable or other connection was disabled by 'you know who'.

I always find 'Norman' from the Philippines really helpful.

Broadband is now considered an essential service along the lines of gas, water and electricity. Odd how things have changed in the last few years. I remember plugging in, my modem with and extension lead at 56k Been with talktalk for many years now and not many problems really.

I suspect we are a few steps away from comms catastrophe. Virginmedia in my part of the W. Mids was on its ar*e for 7 hours today. And is bad now, likely rolling into tomorrow. How hard is it to fix this stuff....all those experts about (and where exactly?). The problem with subbing to India is very apparent...Talk Talk lost control of UK personal details a short while back. Trouble is where can u go when all the dogs are at it?

Happy days, seeing those lights flashing on the modem, and realising you're communicating with the rest of the world. I think Compuserve was my first serious 'messaging' service.

I feel most sorry for our cat who got a punishment beating for pulling the cable out the back of the PC again as he spends most of his time with his head wedged between the PC and the wall. Just kidding. Did spend most of the afternoon thinking it was trouble at my end plugging and unplugging cables and turning the box on and off again only to find out on the news at 5pm it was a BT glitch.. Luckily it was back on in time to record er indoors' soaps.

I did the same, but didn't see the news! It's only now that I'm discovering that the problem wasn't at my end!!
