I spend many an hour using Google's 'Street Map' rediscovering places around the country, previous homes, workplaces, roads, lanes with little places where I used to (censored) with old girlfriends. It is upsetting sometimes to see how they have changed, but it does bring back memories of how they were. Have just been looking at where I spent my teens, and the bungalow, just a few yards up the road, where the girl of my dreams 'didn't want to know'.
Get's me wondering what they're doing now... is she searching for me? Dream on!

No. I've moved around a lot in my youth, too much in fact. What's done is done. Onwards to new experiences

It's never wise to go back, but I have looked up all the places I've lived in my life & there are a good few, just because I could. None are really as they were & can't really expect them to be. I do enjoy visiting the places that were always on my go to list, but there's now not a chance I'll ever get to them. Thank gawd for Google!

I've done it Raffles Not long after Google Street view was available, my brother who lives in Yorkshire & never got the hang of using a PC, was about to move to a barn conversion. I rang him up & told him I liked the look of the barn & thought it was so much nicer than the new properties across the lane from it. I then went on to mention a few other things down the lane & when he asked me how I knew about them, I said I'd just been for a walk don the lane. He was totally flumaxed as he knew I was ringing from my home phone

The council house in North London where my grandmother lived when I was born, when it became too big for her she exchanged to a 3rd floor 3 bed flat, the original house now has a value of £1.4M if only right to buy was around then and my dad had thought of taking it on..... I'd sell it

My grampi would never pay that ridiculous amount! It's now worth around £1.6m. The price he could have payed? £200!!!!!

Quite boring, no actually very boring checking google for where I have lived as I haven't moved very far at all - LOL! I've lived in 3 houses, this one for 20 odd yrs, my mum & dads at the top of my road and a brief sojourn round the corner from here.
What is funny but not particularly helpful is googling my yard up the road as zooming in you can quite clearly see my ponies in their field one summer and all my show jumps set up in the arena, nice for me to look at but not great for the pikeys that visit me on seemingly regular basis to nick what isn't nailed down!

Very similar to my Grandmothers house in Fulham Q only hers was a three story town house and sold for around £400k as it was in such disrepair, she lived in the sitting room downstairs for the last ten yrs of her life so you can imagine what the next two storeys looked like as no-one ventured up there for many yrs. Bathroom off the kitchen on the ground floor, toilet outside in the garden for many yrs, reception and living room plus box room on ground floor and I truly can't remember how many rooms it had on the other two floors as I never went up there. In good repair then it would have sold for well over a million I am sure as a developer bought it to convert to flats

LOL no way tim, I live in a beautiful area a walk away from open countryside and wouldn't move unless I won the lottery and bought my little dream small holding, when this house came up at the bottom of my parents road I couldn't believe my luck and as it was in serious need of renovation it was extremely cheap No really I am very lucky where I live at the highest point of the Chilterns, yes we have the most bizarre weather fronts so very different from just 5 miles down the hills but seriously I couldn't afford to move anywhere now unless I won the lottery or my daughter graduates to be a very prominent lawyer, criminal investigator, veterinary surgeon etc etc etc and buys me my dream

My wife and I live in an idyllic place too. In the countryside, halfway up a hill, half wooded garden, fantastic views over the somerset levels,...... I could go on. However, we have only been here for a fraction of our lives, and have experienced many different places. I started my journey in Crystal Palace (Upper Norwood) London, my wife started in Dorking. It is interesting to sample other types of life. I wish you well, and I hope the pikey's don't get you down. We have some not far from here too, but hey, it could be worse. It's not armageddon.
