Any of the sub ohm tanks I buy with stock coils always taste like crap. I hear people raving about them on forums and Facebook and think maybe this new tank will be different. But it never is!! I've tried all of the various kanger Subtank stock coils. The Uwell crown stock coils (dual and tc) After hearing all the hype about the cleito tank coils I thought I'd give them a go. But still the same crappy taste!!! Even with 1 of the new 5 pack of coils I bought. Unimpressed with all of stock coils I've tried. The flavour I get is very muted and at times unpleasant. I always make sure the coils are well primed and left for a while to soak up plenty of juice. But never makes any difference. So back to the trusty RBA sections. Am I just too fussy or anyone else find this???

Although I'm not a stock coil user I have seen that some of these coils need a bit of break in time and may take a tank or two to really get going. Also start with a lower wattage and don't go full bore max watts when they are new.
If you burn the cotton in a coil it's always going to taste bad.
What e liquid do you vape? Some thicker liquids may not wick well initially.

I was going to suggest any of the iSub tanks also . . . . not a single issue with the stock coils for me, the heads last for an age xtc263 . There's also the option of an RBA head now should you wish. allaboute-cigarettes.proboards.com/thread/61470/innokin-isub-subohm-tank-stuff?page=1&scrollTo=1060475Although I don't have a problem with the Kanger's - but I do always start low and work up with any stock head that I use, just to allow the coil to ' bed in ' . . . . which might be a fond notion on my part, but I have no issues doing that.

Chinese Quality Control certainly used to be very variable - which could be one explanation.
But it also is very subjective about what tastes 'muted' to one maybe fine for another. It could be as simple as the cotton used or quality of wire - especially to someone used to using the RBA and tailoring their preference.
With most of the Stock heads i've tried - limited though that has been as i've been in less vaping accessible parts of the world - they can't compete with my own build. Having said that - some have been more than acceptable - the ones with the 2 FuryTanks - the Dual Scissor Head in the original and the Clapton in the FT2. The Cubis coils were pretty good - but did need to be broken in at low W's to start with before cranking them up after a few tanks.
I like the Delta II - the RBA head especially - but the stock coils - even with their 'juice control' don't seem as good as the RBA head. But, if i hadn't used the RBA, i'd be happy with them LoL

As someone very new to this business I observe that taste was bland using Kanger OCC, SOCC, VOCC heads and FT pre coils (elements) on an RBA. Thats sub and standard ohm. I say bland because my first mixes were, I think, a bit lean on the flavours, so am stepping up by about 0.5ml a time. Thats till I used an ICE flavour...whoooa!
I have not frazzled a wick yet and boil/cook up at max 12W.
Kettling (big and little pops) apparent on RBA builds and waiting for that to calm. As regards this issue I wonder why the pre coil heads don't really do big pops...are they pre "run in"? Or is it PG/VG ratio dependant? Variables!
No bad tastes yet...except bad mixes of course.

or vapours tongue.
how much difference does the rba make with the same juice.

it might be crap juice in the first place I think you'll find that xtc263 was happy with the flavor when she reverted back to RBAs Jim

Am I just too fussy or anyone else find this??? are you changing flavours around between tanks ? I found everything tasted "off" months ago when I wasn't getting any flavour out of my kit unti I popped some double strength menthol into a tank and blew my tastebuds away with it, following on everything else tasted much better than it had done before hand. and yes I have found a few crap coils (on average 2 out of 5 is defective no matter where you buy them from) I tended to swap coils with flavours in the early days so I went through 3 packs of stock coils within a week (lots of reseaable plastic bags labled for each one) and that added to them starting to taste poorly quickly, another thing I found was the coils all had a different sweet spot, now I am using rba's 90% of the time, but I need ot change the favours rrunnign through the tank regularly if I leave the wick in for more than a couple of days

The TFV4 Triple heads are the best i've had. Not really a fan of premade heads but those are good, 99% of the time i will just use the RBA option though on any tank. calnorth with regards the popping try a tighter wick that seems to reduce any popping for me. It's a bit of an art finding that sweetspot where you don't get the popping but you're also not choking the flow of juice, but a tighter wick does reduce that popping. This is really just supposition on my part but i think when you have a looser wick you get areas where there is a very slight gap bewteen the wire and the cotton, a layer of liquid pools in those gaps and when you fire the coil that liquid boils, expands and pops.

Give the crown coils a chance to bed in. It takes a few tanks to get them to their best but once they are broken in the flavour is great. I would go as far as saying probably one of the best flavours from a sub ohm tank

I'm in the process of trying stuff @get Off My Cloud. just not enough times yet. 1st try (0.6 ohm) was tight-ish wick....kettle pop was big and then little ones. But big pop per vape 2nd try (1.2 ohm) was much looser/lesser wick....seemed ok then big pop. Big pop per vape Think your supposition is right as regards the big pop...pooling on the coil element..boom. Variables identified: wick density/packing coil/element heating linearity...NOTE juice power NOTE: On a dry run with my ileaf I saw that the 1.6 coil glowed in mid section only (on 3 to 4 windings out of 9 -ish). Probably warmed either side of that but thats too concentrated I think and generates tight steam (super heat) PDQ...boom! Trying again on dry tests for linear glow (almost?)

Didn't realise it took a tank or two with stock coils!! F...k that!! Don't have the patience for that. My juice is usually either 50/50 or 70/30

Any lower than 30 and there's hardly any vaper outta it
