...Saddos, like me, who live on their own and can't find food in sizes that suit us, at a reasonable price. Thought I'd get adventurous today with some flatbreads, chicken, lettuce, tomatoes etc. Got it home to discover that the flatbreads are only good for one day, once opened, the lettuce not much more... so I guess I'll just go back to Weetabix

If I had any brains, I'd look for a 'crowdfunding' site to fund my 'Meals for saddos'

Aye freeze bread and revive it under the grill frozen sliced bread is also great for making sandwiches the bread will thaw over a few hours keeping any salad and fillings cool. (just ensure you freeze the loaf sealed to avoid excess moisture. consider getting a canner, i cook up a large chilli or curry or spag boll and fill jam jars with it and steam in a pressure canner @135c 15psi for a while before storing on the shelf for upto 3 months. i want a single helping i have a jam jar full, am feeding a friend too 2, jam jars full.. if the supermarkets do aim and package foodstuffs for singletons the price premium will be ridiculous.

Don't buy from supermarkets, the fruit and veg is chilled throughout the supply chain, hits the shop floor and instantly starts to go off (bananas are the worst). If you buy from farm shops / the side of the road you will find that it'll last longer. Flatbread - make them yourself, super easy.

What sends me postal about super markets is baking potatoes. Well not so much the baking potatoes but the regular bags of potatoes. If you want to make chips the potatoes in the regular bags are tiny, for decent chips you have to pay nearly double for the 'baking potatoes'.

My father in law has a great trick for lettuce. Stick a folded paper towel in the bag with the lettuce.
Sounds mental, but works a treat.
