Just started mixing and finding the provided 5ml and 10ml syringes a pain to use. Are there for example pipettes I can buy which are accurate and easy to clean? I have nothing against scales - i use them all the time - i own thousands pounds worth of scales and many thousands more of high end pipettes, bottle top dispensers However i always reach for a syringe - far easier to squirt a little back into the bottle from a syringe than to recalculate your whole mix if you pour a little to much of any one liquid into your beaker. Edit: i am only making small batches - 10-20ml in size once or twice a week.

I watched Scott Bonner's (igetcha69) YT vid on DIYing last nite, and was instantly converted to the idea of mixing using scales - it looks so much easier than filling syringes, pipettes, glass cylinders, which is how I've been doing it for the past 20 months or so. Small digital scales cost less than a £5 note in UK and as long as accurate to 2 decimal points (0.00) then they'll do the job. Scales should have a tare button - to zero the scales - then add 1st ingredient, say PG at 20 grams - then hit tare button and add the next ingredient, and so on until you've added all your flavors, base and nic and your're good to go. No mess, nothing to get washed out - I'm already working out what to put in my next batch, and I'm going to make my three ADV's up in 100ml batches, because I can (usually just make one batch at a time and then alternate which flavor combo to put in)

laslofienstein do it straight into the bottle and you don't need to clean the cylinder.

Beats me how or why anyone would use syringes. They do not even fit the necks of most nic/concentrate bottles. Plus they only have tiny capacity. Use scales or measuring cylinders Tho if just mixing up 10-30ml a time they do work My #1 tip for using small syringes with deep bottles of base is to get a length of fish keepers air hose, its internal diameter is a easy but snug enough fit onto a syringe tip and maintain a seal. and if you cut a length an inch or 2 higher then the depth of the bottle in question you can leave the tube in the bottle and when you remove the cap it will spring up ready to use.

I'm guessing they will only measure in gram or tenth of a gram increments at best. You ideally want something that goes up to 500g (roughly), in hundredth of a gram increments. Is it these ones you were looking at www.aldi.co.uk/floral-design-flat-scale/p/068611025283004

also beware, just because the display shows 100ths of a gram does not mean that the scales are accurate to that level.. this has come up elswhere with digital displays for cheaper digital thermometers showing a fraction of a degree accuracy when the underlying h/w is incapable of such accuracy.
if your mixing up 2l or so at a time a fine granularity of accuracy is less important than if your mixing up 10-50ml at a time..

Fleabay has umpteen listings for digital scales as used by Scott Bonner for under a fiver - neat enough to store with your vapegear, and not taking up half the kitchen, or likely to be "used" by other family members!

Test scale accuracy using a £1 coin. It should come in at 9.50g.
