just read some of the recently posted vaping chemical info.
and am a little confused pg with a shelf life of circa 12 months and vg with a shelf life of 24 months is what i have my long term nic stash suspended in..
it is in the freezer, and i was content thinking the nicotine would last upto 5years....
will the freezer temps help prolong the vg and pg's viability? or is my 3l stash gonna fail due to its base decomposing??

I believe Nic base in PG will last the longest out of the two, especialy in Amber glass bottles where 10 yrs is the expected point it will be going bad. I was always led to believe VG will go off earlier.
Nic base in a bottle in a dark cupboard will probably be good for at least 1-2yrs, VG supposedly a year in the same conditions.

I've just decanted mine into amber glass bottles in the freezer. And very handsome they look too.

Both PG and VG have shelf lives of between 1-2 years, however increased temperatures and UV light (sunlight) will advance the decomposition of them. The 1-2 years is the shelf life under normal storage conditions for these chemicals. Here is a link to DOW's, one of the worlds biggest producers of PG data sheet

It is expected that by storing them in the freezer, the shelf life will be extended as it is heat and sunlight that advance degradation.
PS. I'll add that to the guide now.

PG USP/EP has official shelf life of two years for normal factory conditions - however in the past it was common practice to retest and re certificate PG USP/EP nowadays Manufacturers do not support shelf life extension but do recommend downgrading to Propylene Glycol Industrial/Technical Grade.
You might want to add the words morgue or mortuary to the end of your reference to drinking a bottle of 72mg "Drink that bottle of 72mg/ml DIY nicotine and you’ll be having a trip to the hospital"

Some good information also on this thread phatfil: allaboute-cigarettes.proboards.com/thread/48111/bulk-nicotine?page=1At the risk of sounding like a broken record and without the benefit of scientific testing . . . . I am using VG Nic Base that has been decanted into Amber glass bottles and ' frozen ' for a good 5 years now. To all intents and purposes, it appears as fresh as the day it went into the freezer.

I thought you would vomit it all as is is a known string emetic making a fatal oral dose improbably if no impossible for a sober adult

Small doses of nicotine can have an emetic effect whereas large fail to cause vomiting and can even be anti-emetic. SOURCE

Which I'm sure we all know the meaning of.

Small doses of nicotine can have an emetic effect whereas large fail to cause vomiting and can even be anti-emetic. SOURCEDoes this mean you will be updating your Guide to chemicals as it is somewhat wrong/incomplete / assumptions/misleading in a number of sections.
