Any more news on the ratties? Give them my love Thankyou Atlas has improved quite a bit now he's on his meds permanently but he's not liking the hot weather, they can overheat very quickly so I've got to try to keep them nice and cool Helios has no function at all in his back legs now I'm having to bath him daily as he wees on himself a lot and I also have to syringe feed him fluid as he doesn't seem to want to get up and go to the water bottle I think I might have to start thinking about having him PTS, as much as I really don't want to, he doesn't really have much quality of life at the moment its such a hard decision though!

Its a hard decision for us to take for the sake of someone/something else. In our own shoes tho', what would we pick? Our little creatures live their lives so fast that they have to run out of living sooner than we would like. I hope you are able to make the right decision for Helios...

Unfortunately my Atlas went to the rainbow bridge in his sleep sometime during the night :'-( He had gone really downhill in the past couple of days and spent all day yesterday in the vets on oxygen. He came home last night and I knew his time was coming, I had an appointment at the vets at 11 this morning to pick up a nebuliser for him but last night I had decided to ring first thing and change it to a PTS appointment. I woke up this morning and honestly thought he was just asleep but he'd slipped away during the night, I think his heart condition got too much for him and he just didn't want to fight anymore :'-( *sleep well my little changeling*

Thankyou it hurts at the moment, and will do for a while but I'm happy that he's not suffering anymore, I couldn't bear to see him like that any longer. I'm just so glad that he looked so peaceful in passing and not in any pain he honestly just looked like he was sleeping. I felt so sorry for one of his brothers though, he came over to him and was nudging his head trying to get him to wake up :'-( I always make sure the others have chance to see the body so that they know they have passed rather than them just being taken away without them understanding what is happening. The others are all cuddling together quietly, they will be a little bit down for a couple of days now

Och and how is Helios?
Wondered how your fur babies were getting on. How old was Atlas? Mine are champion. Just have fleas and mites....what would you recommend for that Beeratz?
Hugs

So sorry to hear about your little fella Beeratz I hope the rest of them pick themselves up soon so theres no more worries. Thankyou Helios is doing much better Jane, he's adapting really well to having such limited mobility. He's as bright as ever and still really interested in everything, wanting to play etc which is good and makes me feel much better he still doesn't like having to have his daily bath though lol but he will just have to get used to it as he can't groom himself fully and I'm not going to leave him filthy lol Atlas was 2 years and 2 weeks old So glad to hear your boys are doing well For mites etc I use beaphor spot-on www.petsathome.com/shop/anti-parasite-spot-on-for-rabbits-and-guinea-pigs-by-beaphar-15792You use one pipette on the back of each rats neck. They will probably lick it off it each other lol but it's perfectly safe for them to ingest as you can also get it in an oral paste version too but the spot on is easier as they only need a teeny tiny amount of the paste (about the size of a grain of rice) and you can only buy it in biggish tubes hope that helps

Have you tried finacard by RR? My boys seriously love it ...All I do is put finacard all over (even on sleeping shelf) then like tissues on sleeping shelf (cheap ones better than expensive) and they are sorted Jane
