Hello Unfortunately I am a smoker and would really like to quit. I've been interested in vaping for a while and keep reading the starter threads on here. But I just can't get my head around what I should start with. I'd rather not buy something really rubbish and would prefer to buy something middle of the range. Also I'm not too sure I understand the juice and what strength I need. If anyone could help me out a bit I would be very greatful. Thanks Aly

My recommendation would be an Evic mini and a iSub G, you'll also need batteries.
Juice is a case of suck and see, most start out on 12 or 18 mg juice.
I realise the above names might not mean a lot, I'll find some links for you. What's the priority, cost or time to receive goods as China is much cheaper but will take a few weeks to arrive.

With deference to Arcturion, I'd say you should start with a device which more mimics the smoking action you're used to. I'd recommend a nautilus mini over the evic mini. Available at myepack.co.uk. For ease of use, I'd recommend a mod (the bit providing power) with an internal battery, eleaf iStick or coolfire 4 would be ideal. As for juice, I'd start at either 18 or 24mg, and a RY4 flavor is tobacco based. You can try several to decide what you like. onepoundliquid have a good selection and some are decent (some are vile, but taste is subjective) and a £1 a pop, won't break the bank.

Hello and welcome to AAEC. There will be lots of info coming your way now with lots of different ideas.
My thoughts are anything from Innokin, quality pieces of kit and any of the Kanger subtanks to start you off.
I personally use the Innokin mods everyday, love them all.

I see where your coming from but for me the iSub works very well as MTL as well as DTL due to the flexibility of the air control. Also I linked to 2 ohm coil heads for that very reason as an only mod I'd never recommend an integrated battery personally, far more longevity with Replaceable batteries. oh and who's Arcturion

Aloha Aly and Welcome to AAEC I've been vaping for a few years now - and the 'starter' kits available these days are stellar in comparison to what some of us had to accept as all that was available back in the day LoL The Joyetech eGo AIO - is supposed to be an excellent starter kit - no complicated factors like Variable Wattage or Temperature control - just charge via USB - add liquid and vape. I started on 24mg and then naturally dropped the mg as the equipment i used got better overtime - currently mainly using subtank type 'misers' (generic name for the heating elements) - and currently on around 1mg-ish. The strength of the juice you may need, will usually depend on what you currently smoke (from Roll ups to Silk cut ultra) and how many? Getting a selection of flavours and strengths might be the best way to start - or going to a Bricks and Mortar shop - where you may be able to try them - would be a good way to start. I'm lucky (or boring) and stick to basically tobacco flavours - other folk here are 'Flavour Chasers' - and constantly looking for new varieties of Deliciousness Just posted a review for the Joyetech Cuboid Mini Kit - which is excellent and whilst a mid level kit could work as beginner kit whilst easily acceptable to more advanced users too. Not too big and the Clapton coil head is excellent

I was told that 1mg of nic per cigerette you smoke. I smoked 12 a day so went for 12mg. Worked a treat. Reduced it soon after starting though.

Welcome to a great place marthamooPersonally I recommend an evic mini to new starters and a uwell crown tank. Both solidly built and covers all bases if you decide you want to experiment further. The crown has 1.2 ohm coils down to .25 and even temperature control coils if you wanted to try. Ive seen quite a few people start with these now and there's been not one regret. Plenty of choice out there though so hopefully you get happy with it soon
