Not me . . . . but I think they're terrific dogs - like all in my eyes really, it's only some of the owners I have issues with! There's a Bulldog rescue group if you're thinking of adopting Bish . . . . . www.bulldogrescue.org.uk/

You never know what your getting for sure It's true . . . . and I do understand that has to be your main consideration when taking on any dog Bish, depends what sort of history comes with them. All mine have been rescues, but then I don't have children to concern myself over.

I'd say it very much depends on the rescuing organisation actually. A well run and respected rescue will thoroughly assess the dogs they offer for adoption, moreover they will offer life time back up for their dogs and be available to help with any concerns that might arise, whereas a pup is actually an unknown quantity particularly with the rise nowadays of backyard breeders and puppy farmers cashing in. If you intend on getting a Bulldog pup especially then please ensure you go via a breeder registered through the Kennel Club Assured Breeder Scheme and be prepared to be on a waiting list for a puppy as any reputable breeder will only breed a few litters at a time and will have people waiting for each of them. If you would consider a rescue then feel free to pm me and I'll have a word with a friend of mine who used to run a bull breed rescue and who will be able to assist in recommending a good rescue. A good rescue will work with you to find the right home for the dog and will not place a dog if the home is not suitable for the dog or the family as it means the dog could "bounce" and end up back in rescue, they want the dog to have a home for life.

Be prepared for some vets bills if you get one. They suffer with breathing issues because of their squashed snouts. Unfortunately that's all down to humans breeding them that way for looks. Originally they had longer snouts and didn't have the breathing issues

Originally they had longer snouts and didn't have the breathing issues Yes...but they vary. Alot of the health issues are being bred out of them. Theres still some unscrupulous breeders knocking puppies out for just cash and no thought for breed. If we do get one it will be from a recognised breeder with good blood lines. This doesnt mean it wouldnt have any problems...but it does mean the majority of the common issues will be bred out.

Hi we own two staffs , I would not advise any bull breed as a first time dog. All bull breeds are very head strong and bull dogs are one of the most head strong out of all of them. Not trying to put you off I love bull breads and have kept staffs for the last 25 years . One of our staffs came from next door to us the women could not controle the dog , it run riot and if she had not passed her over to us im sure the dog would have been put down in the end. It took us two years to get that dog to a state I would call ok and one hell of a lot of work. But now she is a loving balanced dog. She had kept dogs for years be it small dogs but she didn,t have the strength to match a bull breed. The old saying really does a apply to bull breeds Give an inch they WILL take a mile.
Any good breeder will vet you, ask a lot of question to find out if you are right for the breed and will come back to you in 6 months or so to see how you are getting on with the dog.
This is a very powerful dog that will take a lot of work not just from you but every one round the dog and you all need to be on the same page.

I'd say if that's what you want then go for it. As long as your prepared to spend the time to bring the dog up properly you've nothing to lose. Dogs can be the greatest of friends and it's down to the owners to treat them well.

Ive decided to go along to a few bulldog meets/shows to speak directly to recognised breeders. I want to make sure they we are good enough for the dog as much as the dog suitable for us.
