They'll be 8 and 9 in June Anne, they really are quite good tbh, almost feel guilty having this discussion, as I don't think I'll ever need to punish them for truancy... Although things can change.

Womble, what i said was i found it funny and was proud that she stood up for herself,i didnt tell her, they are my thoughts and i decided to share them. If you do not agree with me thats fair enough but until you have been in there shoes then please do not judge. I am finished on the matter as some folk seem to be reading things into what i said. For the record,I AM PROUD THAT MY GRANDAUGTER DODGED A SINGLE PE LESSON TODAY,BUT IF SHE DOES IT AGAIN I WILL STILL STAND BY HER,deal with it. NNN

After reading this thread I think some people have really missed the point and have got themselves stuck up their own arses about right and wrong , I think we all agree that kids should get a good education , ( please don't get me started on the quality of said education ) however the op as she has said is sharing her personal thoughts with us , and not the child in question , did we all lose our sense of humour when we grew into "adults" or do we have to lambast everyone who shares a personal funny moment ! Rant over Good on ya Rosy gal

Bel,i would never condone violence, what i mean is a smack when a child is behaving in a manner which is unaccepable.A smack is different to a hit which is different to a punch and so on,i know all the arguments for and against and my kids were only smacked a few times.Smacking doesnt really bother a 10yr old but a shock can stop a child touching a fire or pinching something.Hitting with a belt isnt a smack, its abuse and i do know how you feel, not from my parents i hasten to add. xx Rosylea, yes your right there is a big difference, just a shame some parents dont realise that I think what im trying to say is if i had known back then that there was a law about hitting children perhaps i would of seeked help, so if this law helps children to realise its wrong then im all for it. I thought it was normal and it was just something parents did.

You miss the point Alvo she is sharing a humorous (to her and to me for that matter) personal thought with us , she certainly does not need dragging over the coals for it

No, I don't think I am, this is a discussion forum, so everyone who has posted in this thread, was discussing the topic, to me, that is exactly the point of a discussion forum. ???
Although I agree, she does not need dragging over the coals, and I don't think she has been.
As for the A.Sugar and Branson reference, I wonder how many people start skiving school, make a habbit of it, leave with barely an education, turn to drugs, and end up washed up?
