Do as i say,not as i do then. So teaching double standards and that bullying is ok,but standing up for yourself isnt? Would love to know what you would do to them to make them not play truant then? So running away from the problem is called standing up for yourself?

Womble, what i said was i found it funny and was proud that she stood up for herself,i didnt tell her, they are my thoughts and i decided to share them. If you do not agree with me thats fair enough but until you have been in there shoes then please do not judge. I am finished on the matter as some folk seem to be reading things into what i said. For the record,I AM PROUD THAT MY GRANDAUGTER DODGED A SINGLE PE LESSON TODAY,BUT IF SHE DOES IT AGAIN I WILL STILL STAND BY HER,deal with it. NNN rosy, I don't think it's funny, nor should you be proud, that she took the lesson off without permission. That's MY thoughts and I am sharing them with you. I've been in plenty of shoes, so don't judge before you know who you are dealing with. You wrote this item, this thread, so you could be judged, you had no other reason. And you have been, deal with it. LOL

No, I don't think I am, this is a discussion forum, so everyone who has posted in this thread, was discussing the topic, to me, that is exactly the point of a discussion forum. ??? Although I agree, she does not need dragging over the coals, and I don't think she has been. As for the A.Sugar and Branson reference, I wonder how many people start skiving school, make a habbit of it, leave with barely an education, turn to drugs, and end up washed up? Actually I did although not as well blessed with finances as the afore mentioned , I do pretty well for myself and my family

So the idea of not having an education leads people to drugs ? from there on they become useless to society ?? pretty screwed up ideas you have of your fellow man ........
I need to re run that ... if you leave school with barely an education you are going to turn to drugs

Seems like the holier than thou brigade are out in force today Holier than thou? Because I want my kids to do a full day a school, or because if they have a problem, I want them to tackle it full on and not just run away. Then yes, hoiler than thou. What a terrible parent I fricken am. I know that skipping one class will lead to not worrying about another, I know that someone telling me something is alright will mean it's ok to push the boundaries. As I said before, you bring up your kids your way and I'll bring up mine, mine. The OP was asking for responses re her situation, I've told the way it is with me.

OK folks, I know this is getting a tad heated & I can see both points of view. I hated PE as a child & got very badly bullied at school. However, I would never have dared played truant. In hindsight, I wish I'd had the courage to face up to the bullies rather than even think of playing truant. Could I just ask you all to debate your opinions without condemning/attacking others opinions?

As it happens I have brought my daughter up the way I chose , she didn't have a single day off school (that I'm aware of) she didn't skive unlike me , she studied at college and went on to university to study graphic design , she now works in graphic design , and she was brought up with my ideologies , I never pushed my thoughts on her and never pushed her to do well , I advised her to do her best and make her own choices , if she skipped a class , I didn't know and it didn't show .

Could I just ask you all to debate your opinions without condemning/attacking others opinions? Well said Chrissie. Everyone's entitled to their own opinions, so other peoples opinions should be respected as much as we wish ours to be. As Tom Stoppard, the British dramatist said, "I may not agree with everything you say, but I would attack to the death your right to say it."

I'm sorry if I haven't, because that is the way I think.

Erm, yes quite frankly, a lot of people who leave school without an education do end up on that path, I didn't say everyone does, just like not everyone is going to end up like Lord Al. I've personally seen it happen hundreds of times. Leave school, can't get a job, get bored, end up taking drugs, or committing crime for money, it happens.

That's great, happy to hear that, I bet you're really proud, and so you should be That was a point we've been discussing storm, it's whatever works for each child, because they're all different, some will never need disciplining, some will need a lot. One thing works on one child, but not on another. We weren't blasting the OP, we were inputting our opinions, and our ideas of what works with our own children.
