I have just visited a well regarded juice vendor to check out their website as they announced in another forum thread that they were now TPD compliant and had priced accordingly, and I was extremely curious. (I won't name them and I don't want them named please - I didn't post this to start a witch hunt - more to highlight the possible future.)
Of course I headed straight for their Mixing section and found...
20mg Nic Base - 10ml bottle - £4.99 un-flavoured base liquid 70%VG 30%PG 20mg/ml Made with Pharma grade Nicotine, Propylene Glycol & Vegetable Glycerine
I mean, I was half expecting/fearing £1.00 to £2.00 a bottle, but £4.99!!!
After some quick maths, for me to make 100ml of DIY juice @ 8mg we are talking 4x bottles of that which totals £19.96, and that's before the remaining base and flavourings.
I'm sure NIC vendors like Darkstar will offer cheaper, but by how much I wonder.
I have 3-4 years worth in the freezer thank goodness.

A timely warning for those who are just getting into mixing to stock up with 72mg/ml nicotine base while it is still available.
I have 3 litres in the freezer which should do me for 12 years mixing at 6mg strength and vaping 8 mls per day ... longer if I cut my nic strength.

Ooooo, what a lovely position to be in Q , good for you! I'm down to 7.2mg but struggling a bit at this level. I'm definitely hoping to achieve NIC free before my supplies run out though. That said, the Mrs Mars Bar Ice cream stash might have to vacate the freezer to make room for another 5 bottles of NIC ;-)

I'm not totally sure of my nicotine stash amount but its fills the small bottom deep tray in freezer so I'm sure its at least 2 litre, and probably nearer 3?
I occasionally fret and think about ordering more but I'm mixing at about 4-5mg and could easily half that... so I'm trying to mellow and accept that will suffice, when you put posts up showing £5 for 20ml of 20mg it does seem insane when £5 would get you 50ml of 72mg even today.

It doesn't bear thinking about, I mix for 3 so I need to keep stocking up, got 4 litres but that won't last long divided by 3.
Whoever this company is, aren't they a bit premature, I am working towards a November deadline.

No, I don't think they are premature goneforagasper, I actually respect them for getting all their ducks in order so quickly and adapting/announcing their prices early. As I said, I didn't post this to spotlight them in a negative way as I am sure they are just the first of many, but more to highlight what probably faces us all soon. They are essentially charging the same for NIC base as they would their premium juices. They are primarily a premium ejuice vendor, not DIY, so only time will tell if the DIY vendors are more reasonable with pricing. If I was a landlord now and I had an empty unit or warehouse, I'd fill it with chest freezers and buy a containers worth of NIC. You could make a small fortune over the next couple of years I reckon, certainly at those prices anyway.

Likewise @hondo . . . . very responsible of them, even though the price may be unpalatable to those we currently pay - it does demonstrate very well what is just around the corner for DIY. If it galvanises a few into stocking up over the next few months, then being ahead of the game has done them a favour.

At those prices.... I can't see the point in DIY... might as well buy ready made flavoured eliquid!

Wow - thats expensive Makes me really sad that the reality is now upon us and this is the way it'll be. I ordered a litre off Darkstar last week and want to get another litre before November so I can feel secure in my mixness!! I reckon a litre will last me ten years at 3mg (I vape MTL and low watts so luckily don't go through super huge amounts of juice). I've now advised my brother to buy his own nic (I mix for him) and that he can add the correct amount in when he receives his juice supply!! I just don't have enough freezer space to store the amount nic that would keep both of us going.

Acting responsibly? How are they doing that? Jumping the gun and trying to trap the unwary into paying hugely over the odds is a bit nearer the mark.

DIY nicotine market is dead with far to many businesses chasing an ever decreasing number of customers who will not be looking to stock up again for 5-20 years. I can't think of a single UK company from whom i have purchased labels, empty bottles, pure nicotine, pure PG/VG ,distilled water over the past five years who is not now running a web site selling 72mg DIY nicotine base.
