On my device I have the option to adjust my initial ohm. The default setting is 0.695. What does this do?
I run the device in VW mode
The only odd thing is that I have set the coil to 0.4 as that is what I use but the initial ohm is still set to 0.695 and doesn't go much lower
Can somebody explain this to me?
Thanks alot

I've finally worked out the problem. I was vaping a minute ago and it was like I was sucking it on max watt. I had noticed it had changed the initial ohm from 0.695 to 1.something. The only way i seem to be able to fix this is by unscrewing the tank and screwing it back on a few times. Every time I do this it asks me if it's a new coil and gives me a new initial ohm. Every time I unscrewed it and screwed it back in it gave me a lower number so I kept going until it gave me a number 0.4 Is my device faulty?

Worth swapping the coil if there interchangeable kind to rule a duff coil out before considering the mod to be faulty. Also you could try cleaning the 510 threads on the tank and device, preferably with some alcohol. could be dirty contacts.

The device - what is it by the way? - will assume the coil is at room temperature when it sets the resistance and TC will go wrong is you ask it to set the resistance when it is warm or hot.

Small changes in resistance (ohms) are easily possible due to variability of electrical contact. ... if a screw isn't done up properly or poor contact of a 510 connector of the atomiser to mod e.g. how tightly it is done up, etc. I am not familiar with the device in question to give an answer to whether or not it might be faulty. VapingBad, and others may give their opinions later when they come online.

I will give this a go, I always wipe the thread with kitchen roll when I change juice, maybe not the best idea?

The device - what is it by the way? - will only accurately measure the resistance if the coil is at room temperature. It's a Smok Knight. Koopor Mini 2 mod and helmet tank. This might actually be what it is, it's so easy to change juice im unscrewing it and putting it back together every 5 minutes

Sorry IDK with these mods, but in general with temp limiting you may want to override or lock the base or cold ohms if you have connection problems or fit a warm/hot tanks, but I wouldn't expect it needed doing other than those 2 circumstances. If the resistance is changing every time you fit the same atty I would suspect dirty or less than tight connection(s).

The reasons for the ability to adjust ohms are twofold 1, if you have an accurate unit to measure ohms then you can set the mod to these measurements. 2, if you use temp control and you intend to fit a tank that's still warm the initial reading when fitting will be off by a mile but if you know the actual cold resistance of the coils in that tank then you can set the mod to it without having to wait for everything to balance temperature wise. An excellent feature but completely useless and with the potential to wreck your experience if you are just messing with it without knowing what you're doing.

I understand that concept, for TC, but it's a VW question. What use is it here? I would presume (probably wrongly) that the coils used are Kanthal or similar? And, like you say, useless to the uninformed.

To the average vaper who just adjusts his mod to taste this feature will be nothing more than a confusing unnecessary extravagance.

I never even knew I had to worry about the ohm reading that was read. However I have now found out I can't even use the TC mode with the coils I'm using because they are Clapton wire But i can still adjust the initial ohm by 0.5 I tend to amend it to as close to 0.4 as possible as the coils are 0.4 resistance. But Yeh for me it is totally unnecessary, but learning all this has opened a new world of possibilities haha

Someone more knowledgeable on all the different types of coils than I, should be able to explain more fully.
