For the last hour I've been trying to spend £120 on vape related items with a vendor here in the UK. My question to the vendors on this forum is 'why paypal?' Its not that they're any more secure than a normal cc transaction, its actually the opposite when it comes to consumers rights protection here in the UK. Source: WikipediaUsing paypal guest check out only works if they feel like it. Also you can't use an email address that is linked to your paypal account in this case they normally insist on login but today the circle just kept spinning. I suspect it has something to do with costs but please enlighten me why use a company that has been hacked before and is generally quite a valid target and has changed owners a few times. At least give us an option on check out.

Cause it's very handy.
EDIT Also with a lot of UK sites you can get up to 17days credit before PayPal take the money, which is usually enough time to check that the goods or services are as advertised. Also Banks and Credit Card companies are being hacked and robbed on an almost daily basis, but they don't want to publicise this. The losses are often substantial but are made up by giving piss poor interest to savers, closing branches and employing contact staff in a host of other countries. I loathe phoning my bank now as I suspect do others. I've only had to phone PayPal once in over 14 years and got an English girl, and going by her accent, she was somewhere in the Midlands.

When I was a vendor, we choose Paypal as a payment gateway, as most UK online shoppers are familiar with it (and rightly/or wrongly trust Paypal). They aren't particularly a cheaper option and on several occasions were also a PITA. Using them also meant that the vendor's website isn't collecting credit/debit card information, although other companies such as WorldPay also operate in a similar fashion, as far as I'm aware.

That is why I am more than happy to see PayPal as an option.

Paypal has changed owners a few times. They all collected and kept your details. I rather have a UK vendor do this than some faceless organisation. The interest rate has more to do with the economy than hacking. The pound is down atm, if the BOE were to announce a 0.25% increase in the interest rate it would be at 1.60 again tomorrow. But that's not what our higher ups want. sydsut can you explain how that 17 days credit works? I've never seen this.

The moneys are requested from your bank account after 14 days then it takes 3 working days to clear so if you time it right 17 to 19 days free credit. You need to have it connected to a confirmed Bank Account so if you only pay by credit/debit card it won't be offered.

Pay after delivery is a great option.i don't use credit cards so I don't have any kind of protection other than what PayPal offer. I think it's a great service and recognised worldwide. I bought a double bed and paid with my debit card once. It did not turn up and the bank wasn't interested and neither were the police. Nah, I'm quite happy with one click pay after delivery PayPal and some protection as to my rights

Satisfied PayPal customer here also . . . . I recently had an issue with an item some weeks after buying ( non vape related ) purchased through Ebay, paid for on my CC - to complicate the matter, this particular private Seller had closed their Ebay account. Opened a PP dispute not expecting a great deal, to my surprise they recovered the money from the Seller within a couple of weeks of the claim time frame and refunded my account. Didn't have to go near the CC company.

Another that has had good service from Pay Pal, couple of occasions (and this was UK firms) despite placing the order in both occasions the items failed to ship (one was an online shop) and the other was a private seller on Ebay.
Both resolved within 48hrs

I'm also very happy with using Paypal as a buyer ( I also don't have a credit card through choice).
I've only experienced one problem with them (can't even remember what is was) rang them & I just remember them being so helpful.

Same here, only good experiences with Paypal for me so far..and the pay after delivery 14 days is excellent...at least that way you can see if what you have purchased matches up to what it is supposed to do before you pay for it.

Me a fan of Paypal, too, after around 10 years of use have only had one problem and it's not with Paypal - for a few weeks now, Focalecig does not seem to allow me the option of paying by Paypal anymore....
I think the reason all the vendors offer it is that, generally, people are familiar with it and more people have a Paypal account than any other card alternative.

Go to the sister site Hotecig, more variety and it proudly portrays the PayPal logo on the Home Page. It looks to me as though the owners are going to be combining the sites in the future and one of the things that's changed is no ability to pay with PayPal on the old site. Also my points balance was transferred to the new site. I could be wrong of course, and both sites will continue.

Don't despair, Alipay is coming, at which point Paypal will reduce its charges by about 98%, or go broke.
