Nail on the head there Dave, prince, george & carrie all had big class A drug problems, we all know what affects these drugs have on vital organs like the heart....& all 3 died due to heart problems. Add Rick Parfitt to that list. At one point he had a reputed £1,000 a week cocaine habit along with a £500 a week Vodka bill. Plagued by heart trouble since a Quad bypass operation in 1997. Such was the talent of these individuals, we sometimes overlook and forgive their indiscretions. Ultimately, they might have paid the price for their lifestyles. May they all Rest in peace. Who carried on drinking and smoking after his bypass and each of his heart attacks - not that I am standing in judgement of him, or anyone else who does similar. If it is their personal choice to do so . . . .

That is tough for Todd Fisher to have to bury both his sister and now his mother.

Ummm - if by "packing more into your years" you mean consuming huge quantities of illicit substances, then most likely yes. That's what I believe is responsible for causing so many of those "celebs" to die before their time. Nail on the head there Dave, prince, george & carrie all had big class A drug problems, we all know what affects these drugs have on vital organs like the heart....& all 3 died due to heart problems. Wasn't Prince's death caused by an accidental OD on prescription drugs? He all but crippled himself physically and emotionally for his art and to keep people entertained. By many accounts he wasn't a recreational drug user and would probably have died at a much younger age had he been, due to the constant stream of legal drugs in his system. Of the three names you mentioned, we only know that Carrie Fisher died from heart problems, anything regarding George Michael is speculation at the moment and not especially helpful. Rant time. This has been on the cards for a while and I promise it isn't aimed solely at some of the posts in this thread or even members of the forum... It REALLY pisses me off when I see people with experience of addiction casting judgement on other addicts. The caps were the best I could do there, but don't quite get across just how angry it makes me feel. None of us would be vaping or posting here were it not for a nicotine addiction (It's not for me, but props to those who have gone zero nic and continue to vape for the great hobby we know it to be and/or spend time here for the awesomeness!), we've been there, we know what it's like to need something. To a lesser or greater extent we all have addictive personalities. Hands up who managed to 'quit' smoking only to fall back into its clutch at the merest hint of stress (or alcohol!)? Who the **** are we to judge others, whatever they are addicted to and whatever the reason for their addictions? Who wakes up one morning and decides to become an addict? Does 'only' being addicted to nicotine make you a better person than someone battling different demons? Here come those asterisks again... does it ****! Me? Don't worry, this is going somewhere. At the moment I'm in a good place and 'get by' with nicotine and carefully managed amounts of caffeine. But it took me until my mid 30s to find that place and I know I'll never truly be free from my self-destructive ways of the past. If it can be enjoyed, I need to be bloody careful with it. Various diagnosed physical and mental conditions (and some mystery ones that have left many doctors stumped) mean that I have to manage my stress levels incredibly carefully as my body reacts very badly to stress. But as you all know that isn't always possible. It could always be worse, I'm perfectly content to plod along under the radar attempting to improve the lives of those near and dear to me. I don't seek sympathy or attention, but I'm incredibly lucky to know that I've got a support network for when things do get tough. TMI? You should see what got edited out of this post. The point I'm trying to make, I'd be a terrible celebrity. People like Carrie, George, Prince and Rick were exceptionally talented and improved the lives of those they shared their talents with. But they paid the ultimate price for that. I know I'd crack and do something stupid under a tiny amount of the stresses and pressures they must have gone through. The ending would be inevitable. Anyway, please think before you speak/post, folks. We are all in this together, offer sympathy and support where needed, or indeed wanted, but please don't judge. Ever.

Light bulb moment. As soon as I turn the tables on the Chronic Fatigue Syndrome that's currently kicking my arse (Tough when I'm petrified of sleeping pills and prescription pain kilkers, the perils of being an addict!), I'm going into addiction counselling.
We are all here for a reason, I'm pretty convinced that's mine.

Well I believe there's different levels of addiction and they go hand in hand with different levels of stupidity in many cases !
