Just caught this thread and thought I would check in. Been retired and living in Portugal now for nearly two and a half years. My wife and I run a FB group in the Algarve for vapers. We have helped dozens of mainly young Portuguese make the switch and we try to help them along the journey. We are always being asked about our devices whenever we sit in a bar or restaurant people are really interested. Sadly most of them think that ecigs are just as bad as combustibles, so we try to educate them as best we can. A local golf club had about 16 staff that smoked, 15 are now using ecigs and we're working on the last one
There are a couple of good shops now, owned and run by passionate vapers, so the tide is slowly turning.

So still alive and vaping, playing golf and cycling. Something I could never have done when smoking.
This has and continues to be a great site, long may it continue.

...and that's the thing, it's been so much bigger than just the membership. You've only got to look at the forum stats (bottom of home page) and very often there may only be a few members logged in, but several hundred guests browsing, learning, etc. and as per reefcat 's cracking post above, current active and inactive and former members spreading the knowledge to people who would not look at an internet forum in a million years means even more people benefiting from vaping..

I also think Chrissie and the mods have done a cracking job over the years, and long may it continue

In the days of VE - you'd be amazed at the number of online customers we had that came via the forum, but had never made a single post.

The used to come in the shop in Heywood as well and mention the forum straight away.

I would honestly say that thousands of our customers came via the forum even though they didn't post or only posted once or twice initially when looking for advice.

I think from memory that the AAEC discount code was used over 50,000 times - which speaks for itself

I even felt guilty about repeatedly using that code and posted a thread about it.

Look how times have moved on. I'm getting discount codes for all sorts these days and use them all the time.

It's a strange world. Not sure I really think it's the way forward (discount codes) but repeat business is repeat business, I guess.
