So I've recently started mixing my own juices (well OK concentrates from VV!) using their premixed 30/70 6MG Base. Seems ok to get me started and been looking at getting an order in with darkstar before the evil people take it away and wanted to know which base is better to get Nic in? VG or PG? Personally I seem to like the higher VG mixes (hence the VV 30/70 premix sounded ideal!) but does that matter when it comes to the actual nic base?
Scales on order too... Syringes was just a bloomin faff!! (although my nurse wife was enjoying mocking my technique grrrr)

Welcome to the wonderful world of mixing unseen ! I always go for a VG base as I'm PG sensitive . . . . . although PG base does appear to be the more popular of the two. Given the low strength you vape at, I don't think it's going to make a world of difference choosing PG depending on your flavour ratio. Super quick calculation here, just to demonstrate - assuming you mix a VV concentrate at 15%:

Hi unseenIMHO Nicotine base in PG will probably store better and longer than in VG. For 6mg/ml nic eliquid, using PG nicbase, you can make VG heavy mixes (30PG/70VG) with up to about 21% flavour (which also usually is in PG). Higher flavour than that you'll end up not reaching 30/70, with a PG nicbase. ..... although having said that.... your current mixes with a 30PG/70VG 6mg/ml premix will be higher than 30PG by the time you've added your flavour and less than 6mg/ml nic, due to dilution.

Hi unseen . Always good to see new mixers. I switched to PG NiC after getting my first batch in VG, because VG is very thick and more difficult to use with syringes. As Postmodern Smoking says, if you are going over 21% flavouring at 70% VG, you would have to drop the ratio of VG for each additional % of flavouring - so the closest you'd be able to get with say, 25% of flavour would be 66% VG. On the other hand, if you used a VG based flavour, it would not matter. Notice you are getting scales - so syringes won't be a problem, and I find VG quite easy to pour accurately because it is slower than PG. Ah, choices, choices! As with everything vaping, there is no best, just what you prefer...

Thanks for the tips.. I did realise that premixing will be watering it down slightly but for a first foray I thought the gamble might be worth it... So far vaping a mix of VV Energy at 15% that's only been in the bottle 2 days and it's not too bad if I dare say so!... The test will be Heisenberg as that's my usual ADV..
What I'm wondering next is assuming this all carries on well and I grab some nic from DS do most stick with concentrates of the stuff they prefer or will I end up wandering down the dark art of mixology trying to get a perfect copy of VV's Heisenberg? Not done the numbers yet but I would guess bottles of flavorings would last longer/cost less than a premade concentrate?
So true!!

If you're happy with the premix concentrates that's fine, so too is trying recipes from scratch, just whatever you prefer. From scratch may work out slightly cheaper, if you know the perfect recipe.... otherwise you may end up spending more trying to perfect it through buying extra concentrates.

unseen If Heisenberg is your favourite then don't miss their discount 35% which runs out midnight tonight VAMP35 I mix both one shots and from recipes, I've copied loads of recipes that I want to try and have just printed them all off and put in a folder then when I have a mixing session I do my usuals and then pick a couple of recipes to try out along with some one shots. It's fab making your own recipes up as well as you know you can always tweak them if they aren't quite right. I tend to over flavour my mixes rather than under as I like a good strong taste but know if it's too much then I can just VG it down a tad
