Yep.

And he's the head of the TGA (Theraputic Goods Administration). That is the body which makes legal decisions on what drugs are allowed to be marketed and under what terms in this country. They also decide how to classify poisons and if they can be supplied within Australia. It was the TGA that recently denied the NNA-Au's recent application to allow the sale and supply of "low dose" (36 mg/ml and under) vaping nic/e-juice within Australia. The TGA cited the same sorts of reasons when making that ruling as he stated in that 60 Minutes story: "we don't yet know enough", "gateway", "long term effects" and so on.

At least 60 Minutes didn't trot out Simon Chapman for the final "Anti" word as happens with so many Vaping stories here.

That said, in my opinion, that 60 Minutes report which aired last night was about the most unbiased and balanced report on Vaping I've seen in mainstream Austalian media in a very long time ... even allowing for the obvious clangers including: BT invented vaping, nicotine (not smoking) is very addictive, we don't know what's in them, antifreeze and gateway to smoking theories.

Wick and Wire - the vape B&M featured in much of the last half of the story is one of the big mainstream Vaping shops in Australia (B&M and online). They are Melbourne based and are very well regarded for service and reliability. Many of the vapers interviewed for that story were Wick and Wire customers.


What else can I say?  "The Man" in Oz doesn't like vaping. It's a little funny when our close neighbours - New Zealand - have recently announced they are soon to legislate to make vaping nic juice LEGAL in their country.
