I don't understand why special tanks are required for these styles of vaping! Which ever tank I use, I can do both styles easily. Am I missing something?

For people just starting out in vaping who prefer the MTL feel of a cigarette, it would not be good for them to use the larger tipped tanks that most DTL users use, I find it quite hard now after 4 years of vaping to actually do MTL on any tank, the thing about them is that the DTL tanks can produce more clouds and I think that is probably the main difference.

I agree jevans , that, if a tank has an adjustable airflow, you can usually use it for either. However, there are quite a few tanks that lean one way, for instance, I use both the Beserker (quite a tight MTL - most DL people would find this hard work) and the Aromamiser Supreme (you can get an MTL out of it, but it's clearly not made with that in mind - will suit DTL people much more). MTL leaning tanks tend to have smaller holes below the coil, DL much larger, MTL tend to have ordinary 510 drip tips, DL have 810 or wider. I think other charachteristics of DL are bigger build decks for lower OHM builds and (before TPD) higher capacity tanks for all that juice that a dual coil stapled clapton is going to use. I actually lost a bit of interst in buying new tanks at one point because most things seemed to have a drainpipe for a drip tip and too airy an aiflow control, not really aimed at me as a mainly MTL vaper. I think manufacturers have got a bit more balance, now, though I would still like to see them producing more 'all rounders'. In terms of wheather people are into a 0.1 build with massive coils and enormous clouds, or a 1.5ohm cartomiser type arrangement - its just different strokes for different folks and good luck to all of them.

Just to be perverse, in addition to subohming which I only tend to do at home or out walking . . . . . I enjoy a style which isn't quite either MTL/DL. I only like ' airy ' MTL tanks and always swap the standard 510 drips tips for something with a wider bore and can happily chug away on my 12mg eliquid around the 11 -14w range. I think manufacturers have got a bit more balance, now, though I would still like to see them producing more 'all rounders'. I'll second that!

Totally agree with this and tbh I can subohm on any juice I am using even 18 mg strength Currently on a wotofo alto and it gives me great flavour whichever way I vape it.

Id love it if rda makers could accomodate more restricted lung hit single coil atties. The market seems to have gone mad for big drip tip airy dual coil rda's

I am currently hovering over the button to buy the Beserker RDA from Vandy Vape as it looks like it can do MTL and a restrictive lung hit as well.

If you like that then please try the odis/o atty rda. Is a better version of the narda

Though it is possible to MTL a DTL tank its never quite as good a specific MTL draw. IMO.
