As per the title...major controversy in the states, about to be released over here. Poxy little battery, pods (?), and nic content a third of the US version add up to, well, a total lack of interest for me...
Give me a proper mod, tank and 18650 batteries any day.....

Yup, I have absolutely no interest at all in these pod things. Unfortunately I think certain powers will push things that way more and more. From a big commercial point they seem like the products that can be manufactured for pennies and lots of tax added. I think cigarettes will disappear within 10/20 years and these stupid tbings will be the common replacement or something very similar. Personally I'll stick with my squonks as long as possible 😊

Not personally but i suppose they have their place, probably pretty decent option for someone just looking to kick the fags and nothing more.

No interest in these things for me either, GunJackI do agree there are serious concerns with them as pointed out by jtc. However, from another point of view, I think there could be some merit in that sort of product. I know several "failed vapers" who gave up and returned to smoking because of the "faff" associated with our gear. From that perspective, IF (and that's a big if) they can come up with a very simple to assemble, maintain and use item that gets closer to simplicity of smoking, THEN, maybe, they might offer a viable option for many more to escape the hold of smoking. Maybe. If the obvious problems can be minimised or, even better, avoided completely. Which I agree is prolly quite doubtful.

Exactly this.
Whilst pod systems hold no interest for me personally, I'm looking at them with the benefit of experience - which new users don't have. So on that score alone I think there's some merit in them, if it helps someone switch to vaping instead of smoking . . . . in time they might be more inclined to progress on to more advanced equipment. Which could be a positive gateway.
( Just to add, having been fortunate enough to have been selected as a tester for Jacvapour's VIM device that will also have pods available in the future, then I'm more than inclined to buy some to try as it really is a brilliant little device which I wouldn't have given a second look to. )

What are you lot talking about?? A pic might help explain! A small, simple, easy to use modern take on the older "cig-a-like". Claims are that they work far better than those older style cig-a-likes.

As far as I am aware the only controversy with pod mods is the use of nic salts in the pre-filled pods.
Pod mods are a great entry level or stealth device.
I have several friends using the Joyetech EGO ECO as their first device. No need to learn battery safety, ohms law, etc.
I use the Justfog Minifit as my out and about devices.
As with everything in vaping its personal preference. As long as we get off the stinkies!

Here's my comment. Made on ECF yesterday.
hmm... Juul.
Here's what Vaping 360 say. (Yes, them that would sell their own grandmothers for commission)...
... which is a load of baloney.
IF Juul are trying to crack the UK, they have a major problem. It's called the TPD and limits e-liquid to 18mg/ml. (under 20mg)
Now... this means people will need to vape even more pods than elsewhere in the world, which means running costs absolutely off the planet.
..and worst of all... most UK vapers who know their bananas from their apples will simply SHRED any possibility of Juul making any sense from a financial perspective. It will be criminally expensive. No device with such a pathetic battery life and low power will not satisfy your average 1 PPD smoker, not at 18mg.
So - in the UK the Aspire Breeze 2 makes more sense from every angle. This is what all vapers will be telling non-vapers looking to get started.
So - bad luck Juul. Dream on with your nefarious plans. You ain't fooling the Brits.
Most of us got sick (in more ways than one) of paying $5,000 a year to smoke and are quite happy paying $500 a year to vape.

I wouldn't have spent much more than a quid on the Blu equivalent before trying it, but I was surprised by how well it vaped. Certainly a lot better than the ego/ce4 combo that a lot of us started with, but cotton v silica would explain that. There is definitely a place for devices like that, they are about as hassle free/idiot proof as vaping will ever be, but we really aren't the target audience! As others have mentioned, it'll be the TPD that screws them over here. I have absolutely no interest in trying a much weaker product than they flog across the pond. If the real deal ever falls into my mitts, of course I'd give it a go

Actually, they should be pleased I think they are a bunch of no-good, shyster company charlatans with a penchant for marketing of the male cow poo variety. The more I wish something is not true, the more often it becomes true. I am sure they will prosper. It'll be up to us old hands to send folk in the right direction.... well those that get off their backsides and actually research vaping a bit more than buying some tobacco company tat from Morrisons or Tesco. ..like the last 5 years then...

The Juul will have a place in the starter kit area of the market but from what i have seen it is a bit on the pricey side which for me will mean that they will not do too well. When a first time user see how much it is costing them compared to tobacco cigarettes they might not last long on them. Advanced users will not even look at it twice imo.
Propitiatory charger port isn't exactly great for a device with a tiny battery so charging on the go will be a faf. The TPD limiting them to 18mg will also hinder them as they are usually much higher in the states from what i have seen.
As Perpetua stated above i have also been trying out JacVapors VIM and it will be head and shoulders above the Jull for being a starter kit. Probably much cheaper too.
