If E Cigs are not smoking cessation devices then why have I not had a cigarette or 'smoked' in 3 years? Surely they mean that they wont help kick the nicotine habit (although in my opinion this is also debatable as many of my friends now vape 0mg juice). Also why are products such as Nicotine patches and Gum classed as smoking cessation aids when clearly (even from my own personal experiences) many people fail on them (or they fail many people) and revert back to smoking cigarettes? Just a thought sorry.....Lol!

Bingo, nail, hammer, head.
I no longer smoke anything, even my doctor said "Congratulations on stopping smoking" when I told him I'd kicked the fags and started vaping.

Congrats on 3 years and I do agree I havent touched a stinky for 3 months and im on 18mg liquid which I could drop but dont see the rush as I've failed on patches before and also on an inhalator as they try and force you to come down strengths too fast. I recommend everybody that talks about stopping to have a look on these forums and so far I have 6 friends and family vaping and they also have not touched a stinky and 3 of the 6 have also tried and failed at other methods so they can say what they like but we all know the truth about it Long may they live in ignorance as we dont want the government to click on and tax our new hobby yes I said hobby I find vaping to be a relaxing past time by using these forums and looking at new products to help me save money.....eventually #icon_rofl#

It's because "clinical trials" have not been carried out yet, so they cannot (yet) be classed as cessation devices.

Also 2 years without a cigarette and on very low strength e liquid, I use under 5mg strength, which is hardly anything. Of course the tobacco companies and big pharmaceutical companies have a vested interest in making e cigs out to be bad, as they have spent billions promoting their own products. They would not want a product that helps people get off the 4000 nasty chemicals in tobacco smoke to do that well as it would be competition for their own products.

If "Clinical Trials" were worth the paper that they were written on they would have shown that NRT is a pile of horseshit and just another way of grubbing money out of people.
{Goverment: "Hey, if all these people stop smoking we'll loose a cartload of dosh everyday, lets charge them right through the snout for something else that doesn't work, we could call it NRT"}

The Government couldn't care less about the Health issues and public health (just ask anyone who works for the NHS!!). If they were concerned wouldn't they have banned cigarettes years ago?

I've never tried NRT, but quitting with e-cigs was so easy - hasn't taken much effort at all!

We never want e cigs to be labeled as smoking cessation devices, because they're not, they're a smoking alternative.
The last thing we want is for the government to muscle in on our 'hobby' and take it away from us, only allowing e cigs to be made available on prescription as cigarette look a likes at their decided strengths and flavours, can you imagine? They'd have a riot on their hands.

I also think you have to bare in mind that them not being classed as a "smoking cessation" is a legal term and nothing more - if they helped you cease smoking you can call them that if you want! haha

Yeh we've been through this before Jay... Some, like me, consider myself to have stopped smoking, but I still have a nicotine addiction, I believe that smoking is the act of burning tobacco and inhaling the smoke, and no one will convince me otherwise, therefore I have quit smoking...
However, some people, quite rightly so, don't want people to speak of it as a matter of quitting smoking, because of all sorts of possible complications in the future should certain official departments see them as an aid to quitting smoking. So it's all a bit confusing.
Basically, I personally consider myself to have quit smoking, by my standards. But by current official UK medical standards we have not quit smoking, as Ecigs don't currently have a program of gradual nicotine reduction, and so we continue to use nicotine. Most Doctors will still be happy that you are using Ecigs instead of cigarettes, as Ecigs fall in line with the policy shift toward harm reduction.
I think anyway... #icon_rofl#
