Ok get ready to shout noob at me but battery stacking, I hear a lot about people saying it's bad. But why is it bad ? This has come about after I looked at the Vmax review by pbusardo. It looked like an intresting piece of kit. Cheers

Not going to shout at you at all Allan When you stack batteries they can become unstable if they discharge at different times. If you are very careful & charge/discharge them always in pairs, they "should" be OK, but IMHO, it's not worth the risk.

Buying a set-up like the Vmax with batteries supplied by the vendor should be as safe as a single battery mod. It's the silly fools that mix batteries from different manufacturers with different chemistry and ratings and/or use cheap import (often recycled old laptop batteries) or use non vented mods that are asking for trouble. Google Torchy the battery Boy and read his site for some very good information.

from that article fuzzy, Stacking batteries is dangerous whether you’re talking electronic cigarettes or any other device which is not built to handle them.

Battery stacking for 6v vaping was all the fashion a while back Allan, done correctly as Chrissie says, plus with a device that has the necessary built in safety features to handle stacked batteries, it can be done safely.
However with the advent of Variable Voltage Mods and improved Low Resistant cartomisers etc, it's rather made stacking redundant.

Here is the sentence "Stacking batteries is dangerous whether you’re talking electronic cigarettes or any other device which is not built to handle them."I draw your attention to the part "anyother device not built to handle them" The V-max IS built to handle them and provided you don't use the wrong batteries and/or mix dissimilar batteries you should be safe. I feel there is a bit of scare mongering about stacking batteries, it is commom practice in torches and other electronic equipment but like anything you must follow the rules.

Personally, I'd prefer to err on the side of caution. Prevention is better than cure. P.S. I didn't write the article

the point here is should be safe but as we all know things fail ...if one of the batteries finds itself 'charging' the other then it could go thermal. with the type of batteries and the high discharge rate that is required for vaping the possibility of this happening is higher than that of a torch for example. sure there is more scare mongering than fact but we should still evaluate the dangers and i for one prefer to use a single cell mod such as the lavatube or provari and eliminate that doubt.

Have a look at my video here,
7m 25 in i cover briefly what i do with stacked batteries to be as safe as possible.
Just to note the Buzz Pro does have built in safety features also. Would i use stacked batteries in a mod without safety features ? I dont know as i have never used one.
