btw, can anyone clue me in on who actually sells hotsprings? Just checked a bunch of vaping vendor sites but haven't found one yet! Googling isn't getting me anywhere either, apart from some US vendors, but I'd prefer to buy from UK if possible. Cheers!

Cheers for that, maccafan. As it happens, I wasn't aware of hotsprings at the time I ordered the mini argento, so I didn't ask about it.

So what are the safety fewatures that could be included in a device?
1. short out protection 2. long duration protection 3. over voltage charging protection 4. under voltage battery use. 5. battery ventilation
anything else?

It's upto you..
A good protected battery will give you an additional layer of security, easily give you the current that you require so long as you are keeping it reasonably sane and under 10 watts and best of all at a lower cost for a much higher capacity ie., time between charges.
I would use IMR's only in mods with electronic protection or those that are length limited because of the additional electronics, but it's your choice.

Looking around the interweb I see your problem..There does not seem to be any quality protected 18350's around.. In which case IMR is probably the best choice combined with a hot spring..

Looking around the interweb I see your problem..There does not seem to be any quality protected 18350's around.. Yeah, that was certainly the impression I got myself ... it's good to know that it's not just me being useless at googling! I would use IMR's only in mods with electronic protection Would the addition of one of these help? www.ecigwizard.com/shop/en/accessories/452-the-2-cents-vape-safe.htmlI'm guessing it's not going to be as reliable as a mod with fully integrated protection, but am I right in thinking it performs approximately the saem function?

I understand why you are erring on the side of caution which is good thing..If you want to spend that money for peace of mind yes that's a one time use protection circuit.. I think there are similar ones here which are a lot less expensive but take time to arrive.. Clicky18350 batteries are not high capacity, so their ability to do damage is limited. Don't get me wrong they will get very very hot if shorted but the chances of that happening if you don't abuse it is quite rare. So just get an IMR and start using it and you should find it by and large safe. Nothing is 100% safe including the air you breathe or crossing the road..
