When sitting on the sofa with my laptop on my knee, I tend to have my legs crossed & have noticed marks on my legs.
I need something that I can rest the laptop on whilst it's on my knee.

I would advise against the tray with a cushion attatched, as usually they are those mould to legs type of filler and can hold the heat between the tray and laptop or the tray and you. You can find things getting pritty warm so def not reccomended for guys A simple reinforced glass sheet like a chopping board or a piece cut at B&Q does the job perfectly for me and mine is on 14-16 hours a day. I also put a small erm... well ok it's an old empty ciggy packet under the back which props it up about 1.5cms to get that airflow working. Long enough the laptop doesnt wobble and a perfect angle to make it more comfortable for your wrists (who said smoking wasn't good for anything lol). Just make sure if you do that, that you arent blocking any air vents. Makes a world of difference and free lol Basically you want something that wont hold heat.

I have a Logitech Speaker Lapdesk, there are different models for different size laptops, they are cushioned with a woven material so you wouldn't want it on your bare thoyz cos I'm sure you'd have patterned skin ere long I like mine because listening to birds I need good sound, and the built-in speakers are a significant improvement on the laptop's own and save clutter. (If you knew me you'd be astounded that I'd have in my possession something that saves clutter!) There's one with very good reviews on Amazon (no speakers): www.amazon.co.uk/Logitech-939-000092-Comfort-Lapdesk/dp/B001EWZF0S

Yep, ontop of the glass board pritty comfy. Even after a few hours, well as comfy as can be anyway.

Or you could just get a tablet I couldn't bear the thought of having to drag my fingertip on a screen :-( I see what you mean now, Jemmy

When I lived abroad and only had my laptop I used something similar to: THIS. My version wasn't as good quality but you can set it to sit at virtually 45 degrees which meant I could use it while I was lying on my side on the settee (how lazy does that sound!?). You can use it to set your dinner plate on too
