My next door neighbour had the lotus sunbeam, I loved it. Seriously? They were really rare cars, I almost bought a sunbeam Ti in an auction once, but I got beat, which in hindsight was a bit silly, but it was a bit beat up. A real lotus sunbeam is probably something I would really like, but a real droopsnoot, I would probably kill for, LOL.

Am I getting the droop snoot mixed up with the manta or are they the same car? Totally mixed up The droopsnoot was a high power Firenza (HPF), only 200 odd made, the opel manta was a Cavalier engined poser mobile. Droopsnoot's had the firenza 4 cylinder slant engine (2300), the same as in the Magnum, it had huge torque for the time, which totally overwhelmed the powerline, but the HPF's had uprated almost everything, to cope with the power.

Oh yes, petrolhead I am Currently as my daily driver I have a Mercedes CLK500 V8 (5.0l), even though it's no Mitsi Evo in the corners it is a seriously quick bit of kit, I bought it because I was doing silly miles and needed something rapid but comfortable, it ticks both of those boxes and returns shy of 30mpg on a motorway run. She does does run low teens with a heavy right foot and with the toys switched off Second car is a Seat Altea FR (family car) which is no slouch especially with a Revo remap which has improved both MPG and performance, I hated it to begin with because typical diesel it dumped all it's power at 2.5k, with a remap that has smoothed that out and gives good pull through to 4k now. Previous to that I have had: Supra Twin Turbo (Fettled to 500BHP) Subaru Impreza Type R Golf GTI Turbo (hated it) Fiat Uno Turbo (my first car, not chavved up and scary in the wet) Celica GT Celica 190 Had others but they were company cars and got ditched fairly quickly. I used to spend a lot of time tinkering with my cars but don't have the time these days, I used to have OCD about cleanliness and spent about 8 hours detailing my various cars each weekend (sad, I know, but the satisfaction was immense). I never put silly bodykits on, never really did the whole loud stereo thing even though I did upgrade my systems to be of audiophile quality (diamond audio, phoenix gold type arena). It has always been about the engine and the experience for me. Still yet to be endorsed on the old license so I'm not a prat on the road but do like things fast occassionally So yes, I class myself as a petrolhead Plan next year is to buy a track day car, I'm thinking Pug 205GTI 1.9 with a 1.6 gearbox, stripped out, roll cage and have a play with the suspension setup and have some fun

A question on classic cars. This is a very limited car that has a tortoise as its emblem, can you name Tue car? & say why a tortoise as an emblem for a bonus point?
Reason I am asking is because on the way from work today I bumped into a bloke I'd not seen in years who has one of these cars. His daily drive is a fully restored TR7.

Only through google have I been able to find out the answer and winning that way would be a most disreputable thing to do
