Just thought I would start this thread to see if there any like minded petrolheads. I grew up around fast cars, passed my test 1 week after my 17th birthday and my dad give me a Toyota corolla Gti. Next car was a Renault 5 GT turbo, then wifey got a Golf GT 1.4TSi which give me the funds to buy a proper toy, a Scooby WRX Sti. Loved it to bits, spent miles too much money on go faster bits, took it to shows, but then "baby forces reluctant sale". Now running the hearse, a Volvo V40 T4. To the uneducated, it's a black Volvo estate, to people in the know it's got 200bhp Now on the look out for a cheap MX5 because the baby isn't a baby anymore and she keeps asking daddy for a car with no roof, like peppa pigs Anyone else?

I used to be a petrol head, but age got the better of me, or was that the bank manager lol. I have had a couple of quick cars, my fave is having a Q car. (wolf in sheeps clothing to those who do not know). I have had a few Golf GTI's (older ones) a cabrio race prepaired RG engined Pug 205, but my current car is a broken down Mondeo (mundano) and it is even a deisel lol My claim to fame on the car front was that I came 3rd in the unoficial red dragon rally We actually came 5th but 2 in front got disqualified for having over sized engines for that rally. My most fun car was actually a Hynundi (or hi & dry) ehich I had tinkered with a bit, and boy that thing did shift. It was only a measly carbed 1.3 but after I had finished with it, I outperformed an escort 1.8i RS. There are two cars that I like but know that they are not great with the engineering, and that is the Frontara, and the MGFR

Not quite a petrolhead but I do like a car with a bit of ompf.
My fav car I've owned was a 1.7 Ford Puma in panther black. Totally loved that car, however I stupidly sold it & bought a 1.6 Mazda MX5. Lovely looking car but totally crap in the winter (due to rear wheel drive). Admittedly it was a P reg 1996 limited edition model, but still. The only cool thing was it didn't have power steering, so you felt you were driving a real car.
I now own a Citroen C2 VTS & it's a power machine. Very deceiving on the outside, but it packs a punch.
Before I bought it, I did drive a Toyota Corolla & thought it was very bland, so decided against buying one.

Can't beat big engines, just not practical in the current climate of high fuel prices.

I loved having Q cars. My best was a Magnum 2300 with twin SU's. Off the line I could beat absolutely anything, I mean nothing could even come close. Even today I could wipe the road with most hot cars.(up to a 100 metres or so ) If I still had it, that is I still dream of owning a droopsnoot, maybe one day. Or a Lotus sunbeam, that would also be cool

OK I'll start with my car history first first one was a mg maestro turbo 1 of only 505 ever made. then a mk2 golf gti 8v after that the 16v got rid of that for a Toyota supra 3ltr twin turbo but god did it like to drink so got rid of that for another mk2 gti but that had a 250bhp Audi 1.8 20v turbo engine in it and was the best car i have ever had so i kept it for 7 years (still wish i had it now ) then got an Audi s3 remapped to 280bhp it was nearly as good as the golf to drive and loads of fun in the snow i kept that for 6 years and only got rid of it because the price of petrol went mad so I've got a seat Leon fr tdi now it did have 170bhp but i had that remapped to over 200bhp now but i still get 40mpg out of it now bikes started with an rd 125lc then rd 350lc then gsx600f fzr600 gsxr750wp fzr 1000 fzr1000 exup fzr1000exup streetfighter with a 1040 kit (still got) yzf 1000r thunderace streetfighter with a 1070 kit on it (still got ) so i don't know would you class me as a petrolhead ?
