I shall be asleep but I expect the recording will be available later, yes? Thanks for the response, Stud.

Bad news on the battery :-( hope they all don't turn out as bad as the ones on last night show. Think I may order some AW IMR's in anyway, better to have a decent battery and I can use them in my GGTS as well.

Just Tim and I may possibly use a teeny tiny bit more juice per day than the others. Possibly. So far, the AW IMR 18650s are doing absolutely fine...

Great news that they are on their way! The more I read and hear about batteries, the more confused I get. I must admit I am very reluctant to shell out more than £10 a pop on AW batteries, which is the cheapest I have been able to find them.

Thank you, Stud and Gordy I've put the page in my Faves because, me being of a negative mindset as a result of "fantastic new mod" experiences, I'm going to wait until we receive our LavaTubes without bugs before ordering That little exercise had a plus side-effect: sought and found a neat Google Bookmarks button for Opera (which I use mainly for AllAbout and eBay boards)

Still pondering this though. The blue trustfire 2500mAh ones are known to work in the Lavatube - not sure about the grey 2400mAh ones. They are about half the price of the AW ones, so what I still don't understand is in what way the AW ones are twice as good?
I know the capacity is likely to be overstated on the Trustfires, but they only have to be 2/3 of spec to equate to the 1600mAh AW's. They are widely sold on torch sites, so despite that is there a real safety issue compared to the AW? Do the AW's last much longer?
Sorry to ramble on, but with no practical experience of these things I am just seeking enlightenment!

AW's mAH ratings are based on a discharge rate of 1C at minimum, whereas the vast majority of ****fires and their ilk are discharged at <0.2C to an endpoint of 2.5 volts or less - which will pretty much render them unchargeable. The IMRs, particularly are rated (and measured) at 8C, will deliver their rated capacity to an end point of 3.0 volts loaded, and not an unrealistic 2.5. Their discharge curve is also massively flat until drop-off - outside of a VV device they pack the same punch for longer. I've got a pair here that have been in daily use (that means each battery every day - I get through a lot of juice) for the last year with absolutely no problems and are only now beginning to show some age - that's well over 350 charges each. I can't say that of any other make. Still pondering this though. The blue trustfire 2500mAh ones are known to work in the Lavatube - not sure about the grey 2400mAh ones.
