James, never quite sure where to catch up with you, but, please don't send me any more free samples. I appreciate the outlay/cost of what you have already sent to me - along with the postage. Give me a couple of days to work my way through the tobacco ones, and once I make a decision as to my favourite/s, and I shall come and place an order, and will order (and thus PAY for) the coffee one. Whereas prior to vaping I couldn't comprehend the idea of flavour - I can now understand it somewhat better, and realise that I would at least want to try some fruit flavours. So if you come back from your trip with fruity ideas - great. I am up for that. Thanks again Mister.

Nana - so agree with you hunnie. I am, for the first time ever, so optimistic. What I feel is that I can now focus the 'willpower' element on the 'will' to make this huge step into being - at last - a non smoker. Sooooooo much easier than anything else I have tried. And soooooooo thrilled to have found this group. I know I would not have got this far without it/you all.

Dee, so agree with you. The instructions are naff. I only got my going properly due to all of the info provided by the lovely peeps in here - and from that I put it all together to get going. The instructions do assume that you already understand the basics at least of e-cig operation. I am still trying to figure out quite what the key element is to getting a real puff. When I put the juice in, I get a couple of good ones. Then this afternoon, that didn't seem to work very well. But, I had just changed juice (one of James's samples) and was about to write that one off. So changed cartridge filled with another flavour - but same happened. So then I realised it had to be something else. So changed battery - and that was what was needed. The battery I had installed this morning had been charged, and so I assumed would last several hours. So, ayt this point, not sure whether I had not charged it enough, had used it too much, or what to surmise. But change of battery did the trick. I also have found that advice given by someone here (and I am so sorry to whoever it was, 'cos I have forgotten ) to add a drop directly into the atomiser before reinstalling cartridge is also a good idea. I am determined to crack this - real ciggy free for 33 hours now - never been achieved before. This is the answer for me, but I feel like a learner driver who has to get to grips with how everything works. I have even taken the huge step of telling my offspring that 'mum' hasn't had a cigarette for 24 hours. I haven't told them about the vaping yet. I sent a text (as both were on their way to Glastonbury), and it would take far too long to explain it all at this stage. But, got two texts back saying: 'Don't believe it!' But I so understand their comments - they know how hopeless I have been in the past. Makes me even more determined now.

Lovely to read that Nana, and very well done you. I am somewhat behind you - only 27 hours now for me with my new found smoking experience (not that I am counting of course!!) but am so not at the usual stage of: 'whose head can I bite off?' mode! x

26 hours -fag-free! Can't believe it. Had the ceremonial dumping of the 'ash-tray' today, but retrieved it from the bin, given that it had never done anything wrong other than be with me for soooooo many years. Really do think I am off and running. Did you all read my 'thank-you' notes - across loads of threads - for all of your wonderful support? Having funny moments - like last night - usual practice is: go to bed, turn on TV until feeling sleepy, turn off, settle down. However, if sleep isn't apparent within half-an-hour, then the usual would be to get up, dressing gown on, disturb dog in kitchen whilst opening back door to puff outside, enduring freezing cold, rain, snow etc. (albeit, not this time of year I do appreciate.) So last night, bath, bed, 10.30 - TV on, one hour later, still not sleepy - need a cig- go to get Riva (left in kitchen) - open door to puff!!!! Suddenly realised that I didn't need to. Took Riva back to bed with me - had a couple of puffs IN MY BEDROOM - never happened before! How good is that???? Feeling so, so positive about it, so - with fear of boring you all - thank you once again. First 24-hours over, and I have no desire at all to kill anyone. How good is that?

Cheers Jaki - sounds as if you could get really carried away with flavours. I am going to have to work out a storage system.

Must go and check out what flavours James does outside of the tobacco ones. The ones I have tried so far do leave quite an aftertaste...... so perhaps mint or melon might be much nicer than I first thought? So agree re: the coffee. Coffee and a cig all in one - sounds like heaven.

Good suggestion there B re: keeping different atomisers for different fillings. That makes sense. Now that I understand the 'taste' notion, I may well risk some alternative flavours outside of the tobacco ones. All suggestions gratefully received. James - how are you at making cappucino? Chrissie, that makes sense too - I think I have been worried about overloading the cartidge, so have only been sprinkling a couple of drops in - not really soaking it well enough. I can see that it takes some time - trial and error - before getting it right for your purpose and personal preference. 7.5 hours now

You too Dee. I found the batteries that came with mine were actually already charged - certainly enough to get going. I put the other on the charger, and it went green very quickly.
Can't actually believe how long it has been since I had a real-life ciggy, and am not at all interested, let alone in need of, having one. All time first. I would normally be getting really tetchy by now. xx

Thanks Lilac for taking the time to explain all of that. I can see how much of it initially is trial and error. I think that having just spent £40.00 on this, I am worried that I will somehow wreck it before I get my money's worth! Also not sure if you have to clean out the atomiser before installing a different cartridge that has a different juice in it?

Lilac - PMSL - but yes, that is just me right now. Thanks sweetie. I will learn how to do those, eventually. Have to be totally honest, I was expecting this to be just like all of my other failed attempts with all that I have tried - and failed. But this just may work. Please bear with me everyone - I could well become a 'giving up smoking' bore! I really want to introduce this notion to a friend of mine. But she doesn't have too much money floating around right now, and thus she wouldn't risk the outlay unless she thought she stood a chance. Does anyone know if one of the disposable ones is sufficiently effective to give a newbie a good trial? Perhaps I need to ask James that one. I note he has one for about £5.00. If I knew it would be good enough as a trial one, I would send one to her to nudge her forward. Jump- skip - big smile on face - happy bunny >>>>>>

Chrissie - 'pooling' at the top of something - not sure what that means hunnie. But a few more questions - if you haven't yet got fed up with them all - 1) When you put the juice into a new cartridge that has the bit of whatever it is stuffed in it - wadding (?)- how many drops do you put in to fill it, and how long should that filling last? 2) Can you top up the cartridge through the atomiser hole (albeit, I appreciate that you would need a syringe to do it.) I know I watched a video where that was done - but it was a different model cig to my Riva. I have only used one cartridge so far, which appeared to run out, so I topped up. As I unscrewed, the wadding came out - so I had to replace - carefully using tweezers, but see that syringing through the atomiser would be less hassle perhaps? 5 Hours now since my last cancer-tube (as my mum calls them), and don't feel the need for one at all. Whoopee. Have I told you all how much I love you? James, hope you read my hooooge 'thank-you' post? And when I have my birthday party......my 21st of course......... you are all invited, and James, you can even wear your pink dress, and Omegaman can wear whatever is appropriate for his gender on that day. Great start folks - thanks.
