I'm glad to see I'm not the only newbie who's done it! :-[ I OD'd on Monday afternoon and it took me around 2 days to return to normal vaping conditions.
At least now I know what caused it, I'll know (hopefully) when to stop.

A newly filled carto will last you as long as your current ones do, if not longer. I use cartos and with topping them up, I can get one to last me around a week before the taste and draw drops off to almost nothing.
I think when the guy says his lasts a couple of hours he means that the flavour is stronger and he gets a better draw on it in those 2 hours.
If you're really trying to save money you can actually clean them and re-use them by slow boiling them in a pan of clean water for around 15mins although it takes an age as you may have to re-boil them 6-8 times then dry them overnight, whereas you can pick up 5 boges Standard resistance for around £6.
You don't "need" a drip tip, they just make it easier than prying off the white cap when you want to top them up. To do this I just use the tip of a fork and they just pop off.
The first time I use a new cartomiser I use the condom method and then after that you can just top them off.
I top mine up just dripping the juice straight from the bottle on to the white filler inside drop by drop on a bit of kitchen paper, just try not to get the juice down the hole in the middle (you can blow this out anyway so don't worry too much about it). After I've topped it up (It'll start dripping through the carto on to the paper) I turn it over and blow through it from the threaded end to clear any bits that went down the tube, wipe the thread of any stray juice and pop the lid back on (or put a drip tip on).
For me it all sounded a bit daunting filling them up and I really couldn't be bothered with it but now it's something I enjoy doing as I know once I've done it is when it'll taste the nicest. Just think your prefilled ones are never going to taste as fresh as a newly filled one at home.
[edited to add the condom method and make a little more sense]

I know you're really after a third battery however I had to add if you're away from power for a while I find these really handy www.amazon.co.uk/PowerTraveller-Explorer-Solar-Charger-Device/dp/B001W031KI/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1346347429&sr=8-1They're 2200mah so will re-charge your Ego twice with some to spare, however as there is an additional solar panel, you can recharge the battery through the day to top it up between charges. The solar panel will also charge some very low power items directly (my crappy work Nokia charges in direct sun). Be warned you can't top up the battery with the solar panel and recharge something else at the same time, it's one or the other. The battery also holds it's charge for ages so that's a huge plus point. I've had one for around 3-4 years and although it only gets light use it's not let me down in times of need. I just checked that the USB connector works with both my Rivas and 10 Motive cig-a-like batteries and can happily report it worked a treat.

Kirsty, I much prefer your diagnosis. It's so much cheaper not having to change anything I've gone back to my old stuff now and all seems reasonably well now. Seriously, I'd not even thought that my body might at some point be angry with me for taking away something it's had every day for the last 20+ years.

Thanks for your help all.
Sadly the afternoon was actually when I had the stronger stuff, by late afternon I was feeling decidedly dodgy.
It looks like I'll have to dillute the new stuff down.
Is my maths correct that if I add a 30ml bottle of 8mg to my existing 30ml 24mg one, I'll end up with 60ml of 16mg content?
Why did I not just get a tester? Grrrr. Oh well, VE Jason's going to get that helicopter sooner than he thinks!

I've been upping my water intake (due to people saying to keep hydrated) so from going from almost no water to around 1.5-2 litres a day I'm confident I'm taking on enough liquid. PG/VG has not changed, it's still 50/50 so I doubt(?) it's that. I think I'm just going to have to work it by adding bits untill I feel weird again :-[ My gut is that it's one of the flavours that's not working for me [Edited for typos]

Strange but from vaping 18 and 20mg content juice (and nearly chain-vaping in the mornings) I decided on some new flavours of 24mg juice to maybe get to the point where I vape less often, I'm having mild palpitations and feeling decidedly odd. Now could this be down to the strength or could it be that I'm having an allergic reaction to something in the juice? I'm allergic to coriander, cumin and tbh most aromatic flavours and the reaction I'm having is also like when I'm having a mild reaction to foods containing evil. Any ideas if I could be having a reaction to the flavours or the extra 4mg nic content?
Disclaimer: I'm aware that these will be your opinions not vetted medical advice so I'm after your take on this.
Also, what mg of liquid would I need to add to this to take them down to 18mg? 24 + 16 = twice as much @ 20mg?

Sorry to be a pedant but it's not recommended to go below 2 Ohms on a Riva - it's 'cos of them pesky little wires inside.

Not so far! Blimey I'm always hungry now, I didn't realise quite how much I used the cigs as an appetite supressant until now. I never used to have an issue about going without breakfast (and haven't had breakie for years) but I get to lunchtime and I'll eat someone's arm off if they get in between me and my food. I do notice that mornings for me are when I tend to sit in a mist of vapour in the hope that it'll take my hunger away. Once I've eaten I can forget to pick up my e-cig for an hour or so.

Hmm, Got the RY4 today and initially I thought it was fab, but as the day progresses I'm finding it too sweet (almost a biscuity custard flavour). It looks like my search will have to continue

Jeanie I'm only a couple of weeks ahead of you and it already sounds as if you're doing better than me. If you're using cartos the best advice I got from here was that cartos have got to be "wetter than a wet thing". I keep that in mind when I fill mine and so far haven't gone wrong yet I've gone plenty wrong with other things but I'm already getting to the point where I want to make my own juices too. Another great piece of advice is "don't count the cigs you do have, just the ones you don't". The biggest issue I have is that I used to use cigarettes as an appetite supressant and sadly vaping doesn't help me there. My wife told me yesterday that I was cranky and maybe I should go back to cigs, at that point after only half a grapefruit 5 hours before I knew it wasn't the cigs but the food

I'm starting to think that maybe in the long run it would be cheaper to just go and get myself a provari and Penelope and never come back to this forum ever again. That way I'd have the Rolls Royce of vaping for around £300 quid instead of trying the VV twists / egos then liking that and moving up a model, then.... As for never coming back here, well if I didn't know the next best thing existed then I'd be happy (talking to myself in a corner but happy) right?
