Bummer. I reckon evods are pretty rugged, but maybe washer at base is damaged? or cross threaded?
Always have a spare. If you OH is also using, have 2.

I don't want to discourage anyone's creativity, but I just mix capella's VC at 20% and I like it just fine. GVC is too gloopy for me.

Thanks Roger My 0.15 isn't too springy anyway, but I'll need to buy some more wire & wick soon and I'm still wondering what to get. I now use evods as well as novas and they need more volts (also an iclear 30, but I assume that'll be the same as a nova double coil). note for the lurkers - if you don't have a blowtorch, a gas hob works fine, even a gas ciggy lighter at a pinch.

I don't burn my kanthal either, but maybe it is clean to begin with. Can't do any harm.

Burning and boiling are just to remove grease (or whatever). Otherwise they may taste bad for a while depending on how clean they were to begin with. Silica is burnt rather than boiled because it is quicker. I don't see how doing or not doing either would cause your E1.
I'd think it most likely that Perps is right and the centre wire is now touching the side of the post, but try blowing it out (juice or more commonly water from the last wash can cause a short).
And I don't have a Provari, but is it possible that 1.5 is just too low for yours? Do you have anything else you can try it on?
Next time I'd go for a higher resistance - see if you can cram in 6 turns, or coil round two strands of silica to make it fatter. And rather than cutting the centre wire flush with the post, leave 1mm or so sticking out and fold it into the slot at the base. It gives you just enough to pull it a little tighter if you get the short again.

Good advice above about evod condensation and mixing. Buy the flavours and try it. Mixing you own is easy and fun. More volts will tend to vaporise more juice per second (or whatever), and more vapour is more nicotine. But there are a lot of other variables (how long you draw, how and when you inhale etc.) 4.8 is very high for most juices, and I'm surprised she's not burning it. She could get the throat hit by turning it down and doing a longer inhale into the mouth followed by a sharp inhale into the lungs.

Are you sure that was a stinky Woody had? Didn't seem to get any shorter. I think Keith looks more like McEnroe's grandfather. I rather enjoyed them, but I'm feeling benevolent towards the world in general on account of I'm going to see Bruce tomorrow

I've had a pair of good quality but weak reading glasses for a long time. I don't need them to read a book, but they are good for things like product codes on small labels.
I also use them for rewicking, but thought I'd get some stronger ones for that. I went to Boots and got the strongest from their cheap range (cheaper on-line, but I don't always have the patience).
I don't know why, but they are no better for rewicking than the good quality weak ones, possibly a bit worse. Maybe it has something to do with light absorbed rather than passed on.
So, if seeing the coils is getting tricky and you decide to go for strong reading glasses rather than some device with a magnifying glass in it, my advice is, get good quality ones.

Time for me to buy some new wick & wire.
The silica & .15 kanthal that I'm running out of is fine on my novas, but I now also use evod and occasionally a protank (I'm also slowly trying aga type stuff, but that is another story).
The evods & protank (which I have yet to re-wick) need more volts than the novas, maybe because they are bottom-coil, so the vapour is cooler by the time it hits my tongue. And so getting the taste without the burn is a bit trickier.
So the question is, does any wick and/or wire allow you to get the juice hotter without burning it?
And would putting mesh in the evods be any better?

Peoples' taste buds vary, but to me it tasted just like the real thing. I'd used other stuff, but was still also smoking, with no intention of giving up, until I found the OH flavour.
I used cig-alikes for the first month or so - ended up with 6 batteries - then got variable voltage stuff and clearos. A bit later (maybe 6 weeks since the last fag) someone here said 'no juice tastes like an actual cigarette' so I dug out an unopened pouch and rolled myself one to compare. To match the taste I had to dial up the voltage from what I normally used - i.e. the rolly had a stronger taste and a bit more throat hit than my ideal. So I didn't finish it.
I smoked a bit more than you - nearer 20g/day (and for a bit longer) and I found that 18 mg was good. My first buy was 18 mg and 38 mg. Later I bought some 0mg and mixed it 50/50 with the 38mg.
I wouldn't advise buying huge quantities of any one juice. Taste buds tend to change gradually (quickly sometimes) after you give up smoking, whether you vape or not, and lots of us move on from tobacco to coffee & desert flavours.

Good start. Hopefully one or more of your 6 juices will suit, but in case they don't I thought I'd mention that what got me of the Old H was www.ok-smokey.com/old-h-e-liquid.html I wouldn't buy anything else from them though,
