4mg is still an awful lot and the body will miss it, then ofc its 4 mg per ml so its a question of how many ml you are vaping a day. Consider that the lowest concentration of nicotine in a patch available is 4mg over 24 hours and its quite a difference. When i gave up smoking for 2 years after using patches i was cutting them in half and half again so i weened off really slowly. All downhill after that, just had to find something to do with my hands. I usually just beat the kids I was vaping between 0.5 - 1ml per day of 4mg, occasionally using some 2mg, but I prefered the flavour of th 4mg, so used that most often. I'm using much, much more of the 0mg, prob about 1.5- 2ml per day. I don't seem to be vaping more though, I think I'm just topping up more, perhaps because its seems like something is missing, which of course it is? Or maybe I'm drawing deeper, or perhaps the liquid is just a bit different. (ETA: I think my carto had had it, I've filled a new one, and now I'm not needing to keep topping off every half a dozen inhales to avoid the burnt taste...hopefully my usage should revert back to normal now...) Anyway, I've been on the nic free all day today so far, and am doing fine,so hopefully I've got the nicotine addiction bit cracked now. Not to sure where I will go from here. I feel a long way off being ready to stop vaping yet, so I guess I will just keep vaping 0mg for a few weeks and see how I feel after that. I really didn't realise how important the psychological part of the addiction was - thought it was all about the nicotine!

I'm psychologically addicted to physical aspect of smoking/vaping, the draw, inhale & long exhale . I use low & med strength. How is the zero nic for vapourN flavour & throat hit? I'm using the nic free version of the juice that's become my everyday juice - Pixie Juice Black Ice, which is a mix of menthol and aniseed. As its menthol it's got a bit of a throat hit anyway, I've not noticed this decrease in the nic free version. In fact the only difference I've noticed is that the nic free seems to taste a little bit sweeter than the 4mg, but could be imagining that tbh. I suspect if I was going from a higher starting point (say a 12mg liquid) then there would be more physical symptoms of withdrawal, but I am wondering how much withdrawal is actually in the mind?

On Tuesday, on a whim I decided to stop vaping. It did not end well. Made it until about 6pm, but was climbing the walls with cravings, really ratty etc. So Wednesday onwards I went back to my regular 4mg juice.
Yesterday my nic free juice arrived, and today I was testing it out. Id completely forgotten it was nic free and have been vaping it all day. No cravings. Nothing. Nada.
I can only conclude that I'm more psychologicaly addicted to nicotine than physically addicted.
Of course, now Ive realised I've been vaping nic free, I'm starting with the cravings...

Some fantastic ideas, thanks!
Unfortunately I think Disneyland Paris and Lapland trips would be well over budget, although I agree they would be once in a lifetime.
I guess I could hang off til Christmas 2013 to save up more, but I'll never keep a secret that long, plus no doubt some "emergency" will come up meaning we end up spending the money before then!
Will keep my eyes open for some deals on trips though...

Ever since I switched to vaping, I transferred across by DD the amount that I used to spend on smoking into a little savings account. I've only been off the stinkies a short time, but already that account has begun to grow and by Christmas I should have in excess of £1K in there.
I'd really like to buy a surprise Xmas present/treat for my family. Something that's really out of the ordinary that we wouldn't normally spend out on. I'm quite happy to spend the full £1K if necessary, but for that I'd want something WOW!
We're a pretty average family, average tastes etc. DH and I are late thirties, children are 6 & 7 (1 boy, 1 girl).
Any suggestions of something amazing that I could get to show my appreciation to my fantastic family for all their support?

I'm 6 week analogue free using e-cigs.
Used to smoke 20 analogues a day, switched over to e-cigs at 12mg, which was probably a bit too low tbh as I went through a form of withdrawal and have gradually cut down my nic strength since - currently at 2mg. Took delivery of my zero nic juice today, and intend to be fully nicotine free within a couple of weeks. After that - I don't know. Hopefully I'll stop vaping on a daily basis, but perhaps still have nic free to hand for bad days/stressful moments. Maybe it will take a while to drop the "habit" part of it, even once I've dropped the nic. All I know is that I've come so far with the help of vaping, and a healthier smoke free future is on the cards for me. I will never smoke an analogue again, never - of that I'm sure.

I'm a big fan of menthol vapes (which is odd, as I couldn't stand menthol analogues!)
My everyday vapes are Pixie Juice Black Ice 4mg and Pixie Juice Bucky's Blackcurrant Ice 2mg. I've just ordered Black Ice in 0mg, so it looks like these will be the juices I see out my vaping days with...

Something interesting is that when I first swapped to vaping from smoking, I didn't really do so in order to quit altogether. I did so because it was healthier and cheaper, and still allowed me to "smoke". I wanted to be healthier, I wanted to save money, but I did NOT want to stop smoking.
The first week was hard, really hard. I definitely went through withdrawal - tearful, insomnia, cravings, but the e-cig took the edge off. And then there were no cravings, so I dropped my nic down, and down, and down...
I do think that there is far more to the addiction to smoking than the addiction to nicotine.
Two months ago, I didn't want to give up smoking, and nor did I ever think I would be able to. Now I can see that I can, and I want to. I really want to. I can confidently say that I will never smoke an analogue again. Unlike all other quitting attempts, this time I don't WANT to. Normally when I'm quitting, I really, really want to smoke, but don't allow myself to. Funnily enough, eventually I cave in (usually after a glass of vino!). But now I have no desire to - in fact I feel sorry for the smokers who I can smell walking past, where as on previous quitting attempts, I would have envied them.
I like to be free of addicitive substances, because I'd like to make my own decisions, not influenced by the drugs. I enjoy vaping, but I think I'd enjoy not vaping more..

Just to play devil's advocate a bit here - would anyone consider gradually reducing their caffeine intake down to decaff and then quit drinking coffee altogether?? Because that's a direct analogy. There is no harm in nicotine - the switch to an e-cig is all it takes. The problem is that nicotine is considerably more addictive than caffeine. So if you have nicotine in your e-cigs, then you are dependent on them day in day out, where as I can quite happily have one coffee every few weeks without becoming addicted to it. On the whole, I think that vaping, particularly at 0 nic, is a considerably better option than smoking. And, tbh, even if I never go any further than the change to e-cigs, I know that I have done something good for my health compared to smoking. However, I'm not convinced that vaping is entirely harmless, when compared to not smoking and not vaping at all. We're still in the early days, and long term effects haven't yet been seen. If I can free myself of my nicotine addiction completely, then surely that can only be a good thing. I'm also worried that the good old gov't will step in and legislate/tax e-cigs, if I'm addicted, I'm basically at their mercy - again, so much better to be free of it all. Basically, I think I've got the motivation to quit, so I'm rolling with it. I'd love to be clean and entirely nic free. If I never make it, well I know I've already done a good thing by switching to the e-cigs, but I think I owe it to myself to try, it certainly can't do any harm...

Jody well done on your reductions to date! There are people who get to 0% nic and continue to vape simply because they love the flavours and vaping experience. At that point vaping is a lovely safe hobby Thank you! I feel quite embarrassed though, when people congratulate me - its been really very easy! I would like to stop altogether, although I can understand people continuing to vape at 0%. My plan is that the option is there, if I have a bad day or if I feel I particularly want to, but that without the addictive nicotine, I should find it easy not to most of the time... I guess we'll see when I get to that point. Having smoked for 20-odd years though, I quite like the idea of being completely free, no smoking/vaping habit at all! As long as I don't end up back on the stinkies, I think I'll be happy whatever happens though... Just wondered if there was anyone else out there stepping down to zero nic for support! I'm not kidding myself that its going to be easy...

I've been vaping now for about 6/7 weeks, and not used a single analogue since my e-cig kit arrived. I'm using the SkyCig kit, and am now re-filling my cartos with Pixie Juice liquid. I used to smoke about 20 Windsor Blue Superkings a day, and started off using the 12mg SkyCig cartos. I then stepped down to the 6mg SkyCig cartos, and then after than started on 6mg Pixie Juice, now down to 4mg and easing myself onto 2mg. Next step now is nicotine free I so pleased with how well I've done, and how relatively easy using e-cigs had made this process. I'm a veteran of failed quitting attempts, and this has been by far the nicest and most succesful way of doing it to date! But I know the drop to nic free is going to be the hardest step to take. Once, I'm nic free, I'm hoping to be able to drop the e-cigs on an everyday basis, and just keep them in the cupboard for helping me through the odd bad day etc. At nicotine free, I think this would be OK as there's nothing to get back addicted to etc. Just wondered if there is anyone else who is trying to step down/quit nicotine entirely 'cos I think I'm certainly going to need the support when I hit nic free in the next week or so...

Since you mentioned the ginger biscuits though, it is possible that you are sensitive to the ginger in the vape, you will figure out soon enough if you are. I'm inclined to think it might be the ginger biscuit liquid too - it seems to be making my throat tingle/itch a bit. Funny, as I'm not sensitive to/allergic to eating ginger - in fact I use both root ginger and dried ginger loads in cooking and baking. Very annoying if I am, because its a lovely flavour. As long as its not likely to be the pixie juice base formula that's irritating me, I think I'll go ahead and order a couple more flavours. I really like menthol, so I think I'm going to try the Black Ice and the Blackcurrent Ice...

Thank you all for the lovely welcome and great advice My new juices arrived today, and I refilled some old skycig carts, no problem. Got two nice flavours, ginger biccie and mint choc chip ice cream. Both very pleasant, and I'm getting a nice lot of flavour from them. Only thing is, I seem to be developing a sore throat from one of them? Maybe its just co-incidence, or maybe its related to my lungs clearing out from not smoking? Just wondered if its normal to have a sore throat/period of adjustment to new flavour juices? Or perhaps the formula of these new juices is different to that in the sky cig carts, and I need to get used to that? Another thing - do you guys have several bottles on the go at once, or stick to just one or two. Now I know I can refill, I'm itching to buy a few more flavours!

Marvellous guys, thank you so much, that makes it all sound much more simple.
I eagerly await my delivery of mint choc chip ice cream and ginger biccies to give it try!

Hi Jody and welcome. I started on the skycig and have since bought quite a few of the bigger battery e-cigs. I do, however, still have the skycig kit and still use it at work. I re-fill the cartos and it is much much cheaper than buying new ones from skycig. It all sounds like a bit of a faff compared to buying a packet of fags, but most of us end up seeing it as a hobby. Hi, can I ask you for a very simple blow by blow account of how you go about refilling the skycig cartos, and how successful you find it. Also if there's any other kit (eg pipette, needle top bottle, condom if they can be bought separately etc) that you'd recommend. If poss I'd like to continue using the skycig carts that I've got and refilling them, mainly because I'm hoping to be done and dusted and off it all completely in a couple of months, so don't really want to be spending out loads on expensive kit. I must say, I rate the skycig kit if your intention is to quit. I suspect if you want the best, most enjoyable vaping experience, there's plenty of far superior kits out there, but for my purposes, the skycig is doing fine, and I'm suprised at what a slating it gets online!
