That makes sense Perpetua. Good to know that folks are keeping an eye out.

Well, if they can't be civil they deserve a telling off. My reservations are more to do with how easy it would be for people to take advantage of a forum like this to offload dodgy stuff to unsuspecting buyers such as those new to ecigs. The vaping world being awash with knock-offs, it would be very tempting for someone to sell on suspect items that they had been stuck with, especially batteries, mods and, as has already been mentioned, ejuice past its shelf life.

I'm another who rarely goes near the classifieds threads, and like Blownupdolly, I haven't seen the threads referred to. I have a problem, however, with people being dissuaded from posting comments about items for sale provided the comments are civil. If I were selling something from a secondhand stall in a market, I would expect passers by to ask questions, make comments and buy or not as they choose. I wouldn't take umbrage at them or feel they were attacking me because if I did I wouldn't do much business. Why should I expect to be treated differently when selling on the internet where potential buyers don't even have the advantage of an up close view of the items on sale?

Thanks Figgis. I think I will buy a multimeter after all because there's no harm in having one. There is a B&Q near me. It's my least favourite DIY store but I suppose this one time I can spare the best part of a day to get what I want.

I have a new Provari mini (with extension cap) and I'm underwhelmed. I have switched back to using my Eqo Twist which I find more reliable. Going on my one week's experience of the Provari, I wouldn't recommend anyone splashing out a load of money on it. Sorry, Harlequin, if my comments hinder you recouping your losses, but I think it only fair to let others know when something might not live up to their expectations. Also, I think that if you splash serious cash for something functional you shouldn't be afraid to use it.

MP we're practically twins. It's been four months and five days for me. I think Chrissie is planning an extra large smiley for both of us.

I'm glad Kev hasn't gone away because I plan on getting advice from him when I get round to buying a new phone. That's another thing I like about this forum - people are well informed about lots of stuff besides vaping and they are willing to share their knowledge. I'm another who sees vaping as a means to an end and, like others, have nobody to discuss vaping with. For instance, my brother could give me chapter and verse about technical stuff like multimeters but I didn't turn to him for the info because he thinks I should have just stopped smoking like he did years ago. I got my info from other forum members without any lectures.
Sam: Have a virtual hug from me (sorry I can't find the "hugs" smiley).

Julie and Danieldc: Thanks so much for posting the videos. They give me a much clearer grasp of what to buy. I'm going to try the local shops to see what they've got. I certainly won't buy the one on ebay that I posted the link to earlier because I wasn't impressed by their negative feedback.
Sadie: I considered buying a coloured Provari but settled on black because I'm hoping it will last me for years and black should be less likely to show wear and tear.

a good charger is real important too, Jason has them too, if you need to save on postage Thanks a million, Sadie (and everyone else) for all your help. I seem to be cross-posting so if I appear to be ignoring posts, please don't think I'm being rude. I am reading but these days my senior moments are lasting longer so I'll return to this thread and try to take it in a bit at a time. I have read up on battery related info, understood it while reading and forgot it all five minutes later. I have a Nitecore i4 charger which has very good reviews. My Provari is black and so far I like it, especially the size. Wish the digital display were a bit clearer but I have managed to change the voltage which is really all that matters to me.

Make sure u take the standing resistance of ur particular meter so u can subtract that from each resistance check. You do this by touching the red and black points together and seeing the number. For instance, my standing resistance is 0.6. Now you're getting technical. I'll see if I can figure out how to do that when I get it. Thanks for letting me know because I need all the advice I can get. I had hoped it was just a matter of putting the batteries in a slot that triggered some kind of warning light. That I would be so lucky!

Thanks Vicuk and Sadie. It is cheap but postage is £8.99 which seems a bit steep to me. At least now I know what to look for so I'll print out that page and see if I can get one locally.
Sadie: I have the Provari Mini with extension cap. As usual, I did everything back to front and didn't think about battery safety until afterwords.

Lots of info on this website: www.housepricecrash.co.uk/forum/ The members there can be a little on the sceptical side which is no harm when you're making what will probably be the biggest purchase of your life. Good luck.
