Hi Aurora. It may make sense for you to use prefilled cartomisers. This is where it gets tricky as a lot of the brands out there will sell you such a thing at an excessive mark-up with no thought for your wallet. Products like skycig and E-Lites and 10 motives will cost you a fortune, so they're out for starters. 40 roll-ups (equivalent) is going to require quite a bit of effort to quit, but stay on here and everybody will support you I'm sure. I think you can probably buy cartomizers (without refilling) for not too much per day, especially if you find a online vendor with the right product. If there was someone who could help you (maybe not even every day) perhaps the good people of AAEC can think of a system whereby someone fills up a fairly large sort of tank...it might be possible. Dave. Guy and gals - would a collection of full-sized Vivi Novas cover a good few days? Good advice to steer clear of the cigalikes. A heavy smoker would need maybe 2 full Vivi Novas per day.........maybe a bit too costly for someone starting out on a tight budget.

I have not had a stinky since yesterday, so thats a step in the right direction. I do still want one, so will probably need to order higher nic juice very soon. Gonna see how the spinner goes after a full charge first. Good on ya Smokeybebe. Go for the higher nic juice until you lose the craving. My mistake was cutting the nic levels too much too soon. Anything is better than the stinkies. They don't even taste as good as decent juice. I had forgotten the horrible stench they leave in the air, on your clothes and on soft furnishings. Yuk.

Welcome Aurora. Is there a bricks and mortar shop near you where they sell different types of ecigs? It might be best for you to visit such a shop where they could demonstrate how to refill a cartridge or atomiser because you might find that refilling isn't very much more difficult than screwing a cartridge onto a battery. It's easier than fiddling with cigarette papers and skinny little tips.

I think that Womble and the ECCA have their work cut out for them. Listening to a radio phone-in today here in Ireland, I get the feeling that the regulations will favour the cigalike companies to the detriment of us vapers. I didn't hear all the programme, but most of the people phoning in were vapers with positive stories about quitting the stinkies. The programme host had never heard the term "vaping". The most consistent complaints from the ban/regulate brigade were the lack of testing of the contents and the likely appeal to children of sweet flavoured and brightly coloured ecigs. Here in Ireland, the chemists decided not to sell ecigs, so the cigalikes are sold in shops where they are displayed close to the cash register alongside sweets. Some shops seem to be getting as much as a 50% mark-up. The cigalike companies appear to be stressing that they only sell flavours that wouldn't appeal to children and I heard mention that their ingredients are more reliable because they are made in the UK. I'm really worried that the regulations will prohibit the sale of bottles of liquid and we'll have to buy packs of pre-filled cartridges that claim to be the equivalent of 20 smokes per cartridge.
Womble: I wish you luck trying to get the message out in the face of all the vested interests and public fear and suspicion about ecigs.

I'm ashamed to say that I've also fallen off the wagon. After a smoke free six months, I was so cocky about having kicked the cigarettes that I had given away my last reserve carton of stinkies. I was down to about 4 mg nic content and thought I was finally getting over my nic addiction. Then I hit a bad patch, had no reserves of decent juice and decided to buy some cigs to get me over the hump. Now I'm back to square one. I'll have to stock up on high level nic and set a day to switch back to vaping. I'm really kicking myself because there was a radio phone-in programme today with lots of people telling their story about how ecigs had got them off the stinkies and I so wanted to phone in with my tuppence worth. I was tempted to phone and pretend that the last week hadn't happened but didn't because I would have felt such a fraud.
At least I know that I can get back on the wagon with the help of ecigs and won't have to rely on the useless patches and inhalers.

Thanks Ballsy and 4madcats. I'm going to buy one because it's too cheap to pass up and if it doesn't work out I'll go looking for a the Joyetech one because that looks like it might have VV. I'm trying to keep expenditure to a minimum because these days it's hard to justify buying non-essential stuff.

Looks nice Ballsy. What's a Boaby? It looks like a Vivi Nova? I only use Vivi Novas or Mini Novas.
Are they variable voltage?

Excellent. Thanks so much for the quick feedback.
Ballsy: I'm in Ireland and can collect the mod from the vendor so no postage charges. I was looking for something like the Joye mod tube that was recommended on another thread when I found the UDT. Looks like I'm sorted.

Since I got the Provari, I don't like the feel of my Ego Twist any more so I'm thinking of getting a cheap - very cheap - mod as back-up. The UTD-510 looks like it might fit the bill but I've never heard of it so I'd welcome opinions, please. Here's the link: www.e-smokeireland.eu/product-p/udtl.htm

Thanks, Simon, for the UKV link. I know what to do now should I ever want to post there. Caravela had a notice posted somewhere saying that to put your name down for a mod you had to send a message to (I think) one of the moderators or the guy who makes them. Anyway, I sent the message but never heard anything back so didn't bother after that cos I don't think anything that costs me money should entail too much effort. I bought a Provari instead which will suffice for me because I'm not into owning lots of stuff.

ECF was my first forum and I still look in there on occasions although I don't post.
I joined AAEC because I couldn't find clear info on ECF about what was the best set up for me to start with and I felt too nervous to ask questions. I was very lucky that my Google search led me here because the step by step instructions I got from the members made my transition to vaping very easy. I stayed here because I feel comfortable. Being older, I hate forums where show-offs put others down or can't express themselves without using foul language. At the risk of sounding like an old fogey, I like it that people here have manners.
I joined the Caravela forum recently because I thought I might like to buy one of their mods but found it very confusing and wouldn't have a clue how to log in there again. I joined UKV and didn't see anything wrong with it but don't post there and can't even remember my username.

That's hard Cas. Is he in Crumlin? My niece went through that with her lad some years ago. They lived in Cork. Could have had the Chemo there but opted for Dublin because she has family here. It was a hard slog. Let me know if I can help. I'm a few miles from the N4/M50 junction.

That'd be fine. Just a cautionary word of advice - if you get one of the cheap meters, they're fine for battery checking, etc, but don't do mains testing with one. Many of them are badly protected against mains voltages if anything goes wrong. I decided against buying the one linked in my post because the seller got some very bad reviews on ebay. I really don't like buying stuff off the internet. I'll get one in B&Q although I may never use it because I can use the Provari to test battery voltage. I don't know what you mean by mains testing. If it entails sticking wires into a socket I definitely won't be trying my hand at that.
