It sounds as though your method for wicking and coiling is about right @hondo, so I think it's down to the Manabush juices. I have tried some of their range, and found them quite sweet and sickly, and that would suggest that the coils are gunking up with caramelised juice quite quickly. Do you have another brand of juice you can try for a day to compare? I can't really suggest anything else, other than a higher power to your coil would lengthen the amount of time between rewicking; as you mentioned, the more power the quicker the coil rids itself of the excess caramelisation, and should therefore last longer.

High VG juice, and lots of vapour as you would produce when sub-ohming, does tend to produce a lot of, err, umm, mucus in the mouth and throat. If you have not changed your juice or vaping habits recently, do the sensible thing and pay your GP a visit. Can't be too careful . . .

Now that looks a fine way to unwind after the dishes are done on Christmas Day, sydsut! Might I be rude and ask where you got it from, and how much? My kayaking mate is an occasional Omg vaper, and has fancied a pipe for some time; this might be just what he's looking for!

They leak, they all leak, no special wicking technique in the world stops the little devils leaking, it's just that some wicking techniques cause less leaking than others. They like to leaky leak leak like leaky things. Mine doesn't leak anymore it's degrading in landfill! Buy a TFV4 /the end. Thanks for your erudite contribution, *-SARIN-*! I must admit that I have a growing like for the good old Subtank - i have a Mini and a Plus, both on RBA heads, and they are both going great guns at the moment, and I'm seriously considering getting another of each as they just do what they say, and if the worst comes to the worst, I can pop in a stock coil

Now the goblin mini is my go to stty, iv found making nice long coils so they are a bit longer than the air inlet helps a lot because it keeps your wick well away from the deck. The wick I cut to a point and let the point sit in the juice channel so the widest part of the point is just sitting at the top of the juice channel and this way works fantastic for me on the goblin mini. Thanks for this minime, I would think that the Mini has the same deck as the regular Goblin, and your description of the wicking is identical to mine! Just can't nail this problem, and getting very frustrated! I'll try again when I get a chance, and make sure that I don't block the juice channels whilst allowing enough wick to fill the top that ir can do it's job and keep the juice flowing towards the coils.

@nursemorph - that does seem a bit excessive. When the tank is empty, might be worth giving it a rinse out and then carefully checking that all the seals are intact and not wrinkled or damaged in any way. If you have one, pop in a new coil (rinse out the old one and put on a radiator or somewhere warm to dry) and make sure this is nice and tight before reassembling the tank and refilling. I'm not sure if closing the airflow holes will stop the leaking altogether or simply allow the leaking juice to collect inside! Experimentation is the key here!
One further point to remember is that in this colder weather, what we think is juice is sometimes condensation as the tank is warmed and then cools in the cold air; if you are vaping outside and then take the tank back inside, this might also cause this. Of course, if the juice levels in the tank are dropping away faster that you think they should, you probably have a leak.

solac77 - thanks for that, all the O-rings are intact and in place, I've checked that already I always tighten up well, but am a little worried about breaking the glass tank. Maybe I need to get a bit braver . . . I use cotton wool balls for wicking as I've never really got on with Muji. Perhaps I'll have another go and see if I can get any success. Thanks for the tips, never wasted as there might be someone else reading this who gains some insight too

That's really spooky, newdawn, only yesterday I was trawling through the search on the forum for some information and came across your avatar when you replied to a post, and wondered how you were getting on. Less than 24 hours later, and I'm writing this post to you! Horses for courses, @hondo! Being a DIY-er and making my own juice, that's not too much of a consideration for me, but I take your point. I think its down to personal preference. With my monster airflow Kayfun bases and Mini Nautilus, I run at about 12w. Goblins, Orchids and Subtanks, 25w hits the spot nicely. Drippers - well, that's a completely different ball-game . . .

Hi all,
I have a couple of Goblins which, whilst being cracking tanks, leak like the very Devil. I suspect it is my wicking method, but try as I can i can't seem to wick them so that the bases stay dry. I rewicked one of them yesterday and filled with some well steeped Custard, and today, having left it in the van for about 4 hours, almost half the tank has leaked. Luckily, the tank was at an angle in the door pocket and the leakage was absorbed by a wad of Costa Coffee napkins (invaluable freebies!). My question is this; how can I wick the tanks so that they work satisfactorily whilst not leaking? I try not to use too much wick as they then get dry resulting in burning, yet if I use too little to allow for the juice to enter the deck area, they leak like King of the Leaking Things from Leaksville.
If you can point me in the direction of YouTube clips, or have any advice regarding these little bewties, I would be most grateful!
Thanks in advance
Andy B
P.S. - I should add that I think they are leaking through the airholes and not via the bottom fill screw; I can't see where else they could be issuing my prime Custard juice!

@nursemorph - all seems to be going well so far, and well done!!
Your crackling coil means it's working well; this will slowly fade away as the wire coil inside the head gets gunked up with caramelised juice, so enjoy it while you can! It's the PG in the juice which may cause a sore throat and drying out of your mouth and throat, but this will get better quite soon as you get acclimatised to the whole process. I still reckon that you could open up your power quite a bit more - I use my Nautilii at around 12w so you have plenty of room to play with. Crank it up, and if you start getting a slightly harsh vape, or even a taste of burning, turn the power down a watt and you will be absolutely fine. Once you have used a tank the head should be run in and will be a bit more flexible to your experimentation. Don't rush to buy different juices just yet; vaping is very different to smoking, and give yourself a couple of weeks to get used to things before changing too many parameters. If you are still getting headrushes and slight nausea, then you may need to lower the nic levels a bit, but I reckon these symptoms will fade as you vape for longer. Anyway, well done on cutting out all those stinkies, and here's to your first fag-free day!!
