I bought an Xperia X10 with MIUI OS. It switches itself off within 10 seconds of turning on I managed to set up my GMail and send a text on it before it went wrong, but if it was working it would take me years to understand it. I just had to have a smartphone, didn't I?!

No, Gordy, I haven't tried them (nor thought of them, even), and they couldn't be any worse than what I've tried. I'll have a look around, any suggestions for particular products would be very welcome.

Note - "They" say that only the genuine Joye charger is adequate for the Twist - if ordering from Jason, he will substitute that for the generic one if you put a note on the order or message him. The only problem with my Twist is that I need another one, so I've decided to be a guinea-pig and ordered the Vapour Hut doodah and 2 of the matching clearos. The button looks pretty bad, though > I'll sell it if I can't get on with it (famous last words!).

... suitable for taking apart laptops etc. Must have thick handles! (And be magnetic.) I can't take the bottom off my overheating laptop because I can't grip the screwdriver handles (have tried a couple of different types).

Twice in the couple of weeks since Freddo announced his clearance sale I've tried to buy juice, but the apparently completed PayPal payment disappears into thin air ??? No trace of it whatsoever, nothing deducted from my a/c, no order acknowledgement from Freddo - so I gave up.

I've been looking at the Doro refurbs for some time - my latest purchase, the handset is very heavy and unbalanced, it seems to be pulling itself sideways all the time > Not that I'm hard of hearing, but it would be easy to use without hardly looking at it, and cheap

Thanks, Macca, I want to phone Dell anyway. I can't think of any way I can use the software without "disturbing" the lappy in one way or another, what a blinking shame

That works to turn off the screen, thank you Macca, but it comes back on again if there's the slightest movement of the laptop or the mouse ???

I've already got power options set to "do nothing" when I close the lid, but I need to leave the lid open to allow heat to escape from the keyboard area, so I want the display switched off but still working so that the screen recorder keeps recording. The Asus's lid switches off the screen at 2" or so but the display is still working invisibly so the screen recorder keeps going. The lid-hinge is quite stiff so the lid isn't easily accidentally closed. My M11X's lid doesn't behave like that, the display stays on until the lid is closed completely - it may even keep going then for all I know. I want to be able to have the lid open with black screen but the display still working. I don't understand the difference between display and screen ??? If I am unclear and repeating myself unduly, please forgive, am in a bad place

I'm not up-to-date with 15" i3 laptops, but that looks brilliant even @ £300, Chrissie This may seem a strange question, it's to do with my 24/7 recording: When you slowly close the lid, at what point does the display switch off? I obviously can't leave the lid open and lit up at night, or even open and not lit up because I fling myself around whilst asleep so could knock it over. My oldish Asus switches off when the lid is still open by 2-3 inches, which means (I reckon) it's less likely to overheat while it's recording overnight than one which has to have the lid totally closed before the display switches off. You see, a screen recorder keeps recording even when the display is switched off, a miracle I discovered some time ago Hope that doesn't sound double-dutch ???

Random thoughts: I hated the fact that we won the Games, I thought it was a vainglorious and misbegotten venture. I won't say "all's well that ends well", because we may yet have to suffer a third-rate pop concert in lieu of a spectacular but dignified closing ceremony, the opening ceremony having been a curate's egg. I have been amazed and impressed by the organisation; some of the Beeb's commentators should have had speech therapy and/or English lessons, or have been replaced, that's inexcusable; fed up with being told something's "a little bit" wrong when it's totally useless; fed up with being told to use the red button when mine won't do anything despite retunings; fed up with missing stuff cos I can't keep up; fantabulous performances by some of our athletes, wet (and I use that word advisedly) by some others, but we must accept that other countries' athletes have a right to be better. HeroesJessica Ennis for overcoming the pressure of expectation, what nerve and guts! Jason Kenny for being very young and quiet and winning Laura Trott for being very young and naturally bubbly and winning Ben Ainsley for being a tough guy (Laura has tweeted that she and Jason are "dating".) Non-heroesTeam GB road cyclists for not having a Plan B, poor Cav I will miss the Olympics as wallpaper, shall have to revert to Murder She Wrote but only 12 episodes left

OK Ian, you win on sheer quantity of failures, but my percentage is pushing 100%
