Hi MMa Here are EJ and Odin's 2 chicks, one more to come: There are horrible problems with the cam/broadband from Loch Garten, and often the lens is blotched with rain. Last night was dry so this is not too bad, but it's always very pixellated these days

I haven't been popping in on the Decorah eagles very often but last time was lucky to find this restful scene Chichester peregrines doing very well, I am told (I told an acquaintance about MMa's affection for them and she keeps me briefed ). Loch Garten ospreys had a chick last night, seems very lively and healthy - but the weather is absolutely dire and the cam not only low resolution but blotched over with rain/snow, so I'll post a vid when I get something clear.

That's a very flattering depiction of me, Macca Intel does a scan of your PC to find relevant drivers, doesn't look like Realtek does. I shall investigate when my osprey nest is quiet As for loose wires - I think there's a huge thread on Notebook Forum but it will be years old - there may be tear-down pictures there. It would be an adventure to open it up

Thank you for all the hedgehog info, Yakousei (I just typed that from memory, scuse me for any error). Hedgehogs are not social creatures so he must be quite happy with mere humans for company Luner, your smiley dog pic is so cheery, what a luv

Harmon the eaglet is reunited with his parents. Story (italics by Razzle): The nest became very muddy after a heavy rain and the eaglet sank into this muck and became entangled. As Harmon struggled small sticks punctured his back resulting in the wounds. The parents stayed with the eaglet and tried to feed it but Harmon's position made that difficult.A rescue team took Harmon from the nest and treated his maggoty wounds and fed him, and this vid shows what happened after he was replaced on the nest. I don't know how many days had elapsed since he was taken. Don't tell me they're not human

That won't work, you swine! > It's only the one laptop that's gone soft. And I don't want any clever ripostes either! If the sound is OK with USB speakers, then it can't be the sound card that's at fault, can it? ???

Thanks for the tips, chaps. No Realtek Sound Manager, Des I've never come across external sound cards, SG1 - don't suppose I had to Problem with that solution could be that the USB sockets are in the rear of the laptop, 4 of them crowded together > I have to be careful what I put in there cos if it sticks out it could get bent if the laptop is tipped, which it's quite likely to be. However, later... Found my JBL On Tour external speaker, plugged in to headphone socket and Bachman-Turner Overdrive are belting out In view of that, and also that the inbuilt speakers are playing very quietly both in WMP and VLC, and also that anything recorded on the Asus plays fine on other laptops, would you think that the problem is hardware related? It's going to be a nuisance to have to have external speakers.

Quote from RSPB site: I'm pleased to say that the 3rd chick at Char X Hosp is still holding its own....9 days after it looked as if it was a "gonna".

Asus G1Sn-AK014C 15.6" laptop Windows 7 Home Premium 64-bit This is the one that Macca sorted out the BSODs. The sound is very quiet on it, it never used to be. I even reinstalled Windows, which I thought did improve it for a while, but now I'm wondering if it's hardware related - in which case I'd be very upset cos it's the only "large" screen I've got. This machine records a nest 24/7 (with off/ons when I periodically transfer to M11x for editing), as you may know, I need the screen size for seeing the picture clearly @ about 4ft, and I need the sound to alert me to "events" because I'm doing other things. Windows says that the driver's up-to-date, and the volumes are on full in mixer. It's just Realtek High Definition. The laptop has a nearly full HD display, don't know how much it would cost for a new laptop with at least the same quality and at least the same power (it's much slower for editing than the M11x even though it's an ex-gamer). Aw damn, got angry bear after all that >

I don't care about appearance (see my Penguin for evidence ) ... anything that makes vaping more auto and less fuss is great by me. The vacuum is a great idea

i loved this ickle mod from the first time you showed us Yes, I should come clean and say that I did show it off to "staff" as soon as I'd got it and discovered that it really worked But from that moment on, caution prevailed Thanks for the offer, Vapa, but I won't be parting with my Penguin - unless I get another one (or similar) to take its place while it's in hospital

You couldn't mass-produce them, you might be accused of aiming them at the youth market I bet you could make something similar, Macca

There's just one Nottingham peregrine chick left, apparently it's BIG, being the only chick to feed. I was just reading about why no intervention had taken place to save the chicks, it's the usual story about nature taking its course plus the fact that it would probably be a criminal offence to access the nest (laws made to deter egg-thieves). Also, the parents chose the nest-site of their own free will and have successfully raised 16 chicks over the past 5 years, hardly losing a single one before this year.
"Another factor in the sad turn of events this year is the combination of a warm spell early in the year prompting the adults to lay their eggs early followed by the wettest April on record. Some of the chicks sadly seemed a little too young and fragile to cope."
Aww :-(
Re my osprey couple: the male, Odin, loves to egg-sit and often places or drops sticks on EJ's back to make her leave - this time he went too far (my video froze at the crucial time so I'm linking to my friend Moffer's capture):

Scylla, Hows about asking Vapaholic to come & join us? Edit - oops, just realised he is already a member but never posted, hence why I didn't recognise the name.Yes, I did give him a link. He's only posted on UKV a very few times, he's not usually a forumite I thought he'd get tips and ideas from our modders.
