Another vote for Cats Protection here - I got my two kittens through them, and although the set up may be different in different areas, the cats were kept with fosterers in houses as pets until they were homed. No cages in sight, just nice big houses to run around in. I have contacts for the Eltham branch if you need them, although I'm sure there's one closer to you, but I keep in contact with them every week as the ladies running it were so lovely and loving towards the animals in their care. I know of three charities near here. To be honest I just can't bring myself to phone the, but it's got to the point now, that I have no choice.

They are all trainable Are they.....bring it on....i can starve....not wash....not have sex etc etc but you ain't training me and ridding me of my cables and gadgets Tease-smiley I know just how to sort you out. I would make sure none of your juice bottles are in a straight line. I will jumble up all cans, bottles and packets in your cupboards and lastly, I would squirt toothpaste all over your bathroom sink and toilet and come back and do it every day till you gave in. OCD horror movie

Everything crossed Blownupdolly. I've taken on 'pre-owned' cats in the past and, contrary to common opinion, they have become loving (and now much missed) companions. In the right home, they will thrive and enhance the life of their new servant keeper. The only problem with cats is that they don't live forever. I know. People seem to get the wrong impression about animals that need adopting. Look at me and my circumstances. Not a single thing wrong, or personality problems with any of them. I am just not allowed to have pets in sheltered accommodation.

Finally, my little Poppet. Awww, my cat is called Poppet as well. She was a domestic cat that got thrown out with the wild cats when her owners moved away and I took her in when I saw her on our garden wall. Don't think she was treated very well by previous owners, she was so nervous for several months, but now she is so loving and she sleeps on the bed curled up next to me now. Sometimes we call her Pops for short, but her name really is Poppet. Hope you find some good homes for your cats. My Poppet is the one I worry about the most. Because she was the smallest, I gave her a lot of extra attention as a kitten. I would push the others out of the way so she got fed by Minky. I also used to stick her down my bra to keep warm as all the others would squeeze together in a ball and she couldn't get in. It's turned her into a right soppy softie.

Yes, I shall phone them tomorrow. I have been holding out trying to see if I can find them a home without having to go through them. I don't want them to have to be kept in cages for any length of time. I love every one of them to bits. They have never toilet end indoors, not one of them has an aggressive bone in its body, although Minky does like to swear if she knows you are putting her outside when it rains!! Quality cat chalets up here! Honestly. and they have some foster carers that give up a room in their house for the cats! I will see what they say tomorrow. I hate the thought of them feeling abandoned.

as its late March, I gave up asking man to put our Xmas decorations and tree in attic crawlspace, so made son clamber in and tuck them correctly at back far corner (not just directly in hatch opening as man usually does) I haven't a hope of getting him to sort anything its a damn good job we arent moving!! You need to put your foot down with a firm hand Pepperty, refuse to cook or whatever else ( need to keep it clean ) She hasn't trained him right has she Sammy?

We got the move in date to our new home today. It is much sooner than I thought. Friday 4th April.
I have managed to rehome my little dog with my daughter, but, not had any luck with my three lovely cats. My daughter posted an ad on Facebook, but no luck as yet.
I thought I would make a thread on here to see if there was anyone in driving distance who would like to adopt one of them. Obviously, I don't want any money. The only criteria is that they go to a loving, caring home.
One is a smokey grey/ tortoise shell female called Minky. She is the mum of the other two.
Then there is George. A long haired ginger Tom, very funny, chatty young man, who likes his belly rubbed.
Finally, my little Poppet. Black and white female. She was the runt of the litter, but what she lacks in size, she most definitely makes up for with her affectionate nature. One of the most loving cats I have ever known. Just one down side. She likes to display her love and affection for you at 3am sometimes. If you leave the bedroom door open, she will come sit next to your face and tap you on the nose until she wakes you!
If anyone is interested, or knows someone who would be please send me a PM.

We are going even though it's a long way from Essex. I like to treat it as a summer mini break.

charon - a lot of men would claim that - have you actually checked your own shoes and cloths - hubby for example has a collection of cables - it's not always us who collect - and come on the few handbags and shoes are a must OMG... Don't get me started about wires and cables. There has been a mini domestic dispute in Dollyland this morning. We have been tussling with each other to bin as much of his crap as we can. After throwing out a pile of cables last night, guess what landed on the door mat this morning? MORE BLOODY CABLES FROM FASTTECH!!!

Due to us having to pack all our stuff away we had a sort out, all was going well until i got to the wife's cupboards with her clothes.........some of them dated back too the 80's I said to her "what you waiting for them to come back into fashion or something".....she just frowned.....after a long quabble with her she finally said "ok fine, i will give them to charity".......i replied "I know charities are desperate for things like clothing but they ain't that desperate" Big mistake..... BIG mistake....

Sorry peeps. I started the thread then disappeared. Got so distracted with everything yesterday. The whole place is upside down now. I really don't envy your job Karma. Why do you have to remove the laminate? Surely if it looks ok it can be left? rules Bloody ridiculous....

I'm seriously thinking of downsizing as I acquired the 5 bedroom family barn in my divorce and it's draining me completely financially. We've been here 17 years, every bedroom is full both of furniture and crap. I'm dreading going through it all. On the plus side I suppose I won't have to buy new furniture, just pick the best bits and scrap/donate the rest. Now my youngest has moved out there's only me and my eldest left and I know she won't be here forever. I live in Herne bay and work in Canterbury so I think it's time to 'cut my cloth according to my pattern' as my mum used to say and get a smaller place nearer work. I worry if something big went wrong in this place, like a roof leak or boiler failure I simply wouldn't have the resources to fix it. The only snag is that house prices are higher in canterbury so I'd need every penny of value from this house, which in turn will require some investment to tart it up a bit. Big decisions but the time has come I think, so 17 years worth of crap, here I come...daunted much! Hi Hun I think it would be a very wise decision for you to downsize. As you say, the bigger the property the more it costs to run and maintain. The biggest problem we have in downsizing is that most of our furniture is too big to fit in the new place, so, yet more expense. I got very very lucky yesterday. Won a EBay auction for a barely used brown leather LazyBoy double recliner sofa, which retails for £1800. I only paid £400!
