As I understand it, the e-cigs are less effective at delivering nicotine to the system at speed when compared with a regular cigarette. So, when vaping, you are getting less nicotine delivered in a less effective way than you would smoking a regular cig. To me this sounds as though if you went back to smoking, the chances are you would smoke less because a cigarette is a more effective nicotine delivery device (I think!) I gleaned this info from www.healthnz.co.nz/ecig_effect-2.pdf , which was sponsored by an e-cig/juice manufacturer. PS NRT is Nicotine Replacement Therapy - ie patches, gum inhalers etc

Must go and check out what flavours James does outside of the tobacco ones. The ones I have tried so far do leave quite an aftertaste...... so perhaps mint or melon might be much nicer than I first thought? So agree re: the coffee. Coffee and a cig all in one - sounds like heaven. If you like coffee Hanow, try ENjuice Café Tabac www.enjuice.co.uk/magento/default/cafe-tabac-valuevape.html It is like sucking roasted coffee beans and one of my favourites. A lot of the ENJuice flavours are really good and the value vape range is ideal to test out some new flavours. I thoroughly recommend their maple waffles too. If there are any on there you fancy, ask around as many of us will have tried them already. My wishlist with them is rather long, although I just traded and got some Sherry trifle, black forest and marathon to try when this cold clears up! The code UKV89 will get you 5% discount

Well done on your 7 1/2 hours Hanow! I remember when I first started (and so I should - was just 20 weeks ago) it was such a revelation not to need a smoke. I was totally gobsmacked that it was working for me and thrilled too!
You need to keep your filler wet, (or alternatively, drip directly onto the atomiser, not too much though) as you will get a burnt taste if you let the atomiser dry out and this will kill it very quickly.
When I get a new atty, I always make sure my filler is soaked and I also drip a couple of drops directly onto the atty so it doesn't burn out.

Hanow, I am so pleased you are getting along with your new toy! Welcome to the wonderful world of vaping!
No, the vapour you breathe out doesn't really smell and certainly not like cigarettes, although some of the distinctive flavours (eg ENJuice Maple waffle) do slightly but disappear very quickly.
Have fun experimenting

Hi Tara
I am one of the Riva fans. However, I should add that I used a basic 901 kit for the first 4 months of vaping and although I did add others to my collection, I found the 901 kit perfectly adequate and would still recommend it to anyone wanting to give vaping a try. It is easy to use and won't make too big a hole in your pocket.
I tried to think up some pros and cons
901 (this applies to a 510 as well, but I've never had one of them!) Pros One of the cheapest starting options Easy to use Not too heavy and very slimline A great introduction into vaping
Cons Battery life is relatively short and runs out just when you don't want it to. Even when swapping the two batteries, if you are out and about during the day, you will need to find a way to charge them to last a whole day.
Riva Pros Long battery life - less concerns about charging when out and about. Two charged batteries will easily last a day of very heavy vaping Easy to use Not too expensive - more than a 901, but only about £10/£12 more You probably won't find yourself looking for a different device with more oomph, therefore saving money in the long run!
Cons Heavier than a 901 and impossible to hold it as you would a normal ciggie. Slightly dearer than the 901/510 options
Both will need replacement atomisers every few weeks and replacement batteries every few months (or longer) The atomisers are the same cost for either option but the batteries for the Riva are around £4 dearer
Hope that helps a bit

The reason I champion the manual batteries is this: The action of vaping is different to that of smoking in that the length and intensity of the draw has to be longer and deeper to get a decent amount of vapour and throat hit. With an automatic battery, that draw has to be even longer - ok, it's just a second - but the whole process is harder work. Now, I totally agree that pressing a button to take a drag is NOT like smoking a ciggie, but it is an easily learned action that makes vaping a bit easier and a bit more like smoking. Another thing that could make a huge difference to starter kits is a 'handy hints and tips' section on the instructions. Things like taking a longer draw, pressing the manual battery a second before you take a drag to warm the attie, ideas for making sure you never run out of battery life, honest information about ordering new atties before your others die, what to try if this is not 'doing it' for you (eg stronger juice etc) - just any extra information that will stop new vapers resigning their PV to the 'unloved drawer'.

Just ordered the Riva so hopefully will soon be a full time vaper! That's great news Dee - You won't regret it and if you do, I'll buy it off of you

When I bought my first 901 from VS, it came with one manual and one auto. I hated the auto and returned it for another manual.
I gave that second hand kit I bought from Tim to a friend of mine who is hard up and she couldn't get on with the manual. She also worried that the increased effort put into taking a drag would cause more lines around her lips! Needless to say, she has swapped that kit for one of my screwdrivers with all spare batteries and my only mains charger...........
I think the 901 is a good little starter set, although with the Riva being so cheap it is a viable contender. However, the Riva as it is sold is not really a starter kit as it doesn't come with any prefilled carts or a bottle of juice.
To buy a kit for around the £25 mark that would keep you going for a few weeks (ie enough juice and a couple of atties) would be the best level to start, especially for cigarette smokers as it is likely less than one weeks worth of cigs. Roll up smokers are a different kettle of fish though.

If you look elsewhere, the post is on another forum and in the news section of vapersnetwork.org/. I know Kate always updates us here, so I won't steal her thunder.
