15005 now taken part BUT ..... Dr K Farsalinos saying that he will leave the survey running AS insufficient funds to process the data . I'm not sure how much more is required .
He originally said that he expected donations to come from vendors only , but like a few on here we chipped in as private individuals
This now needs supporting by as many as possible ... it's a pay-pal donation so as much or as little as you can spare
Any Vendors ...... please contribute also
We do want to do as much as each of us possibly can to preserve what we have !!!!!!!

I like you are fairly new to vaping and never have had much interest in twitter, facebook etc . I also had a misguided belief that politicians were there to represent their constituents . It would be wrong to tar every single one with the same brush but how this subject is panning out it seems that there are a significant number who are
incompetent ie Anna Soubry ..... watching and listening to her give evidence to the Lords select committee Glenis Willmott ...... who leads the Labour MEP ... She is forever quoting "the people are behind me on this" or "think of the children"
A huge amount of responses back have mirrored the party line ... why can't they think and respond for themselves . Never thought much about this before but our democracy would be a far healthier place if we can get independent MP. + MEP. and scrap the "filtered " candidates of political parties.
So after my little rant , I have become even more disillusioned with our politicians .

MHRA decision cancelled I don't know if it was stated 18 months ... there is NICE report due fairly soon . My MP ...Glyn Davies (Con.) stated the current coalition position
"Over the coming weeks ,Ministers will be asked to make decisions on the regulation of NCPs , based on the advice of an expert working group and the Commission of Human Medecines ( which advises Ministers on matters relating to safety, quality and efficacy of medecines)"
More was included in the letter but I was intrigued by the term Commission of Human Medecines I have followed this fairly closely recently and lo and behold google gives the result it's the f...g MHRA .
Luckily I think the other expert working group ( name?) advised the gov. in 2010 when this was previously to be decided that e-cigs should be lightly regulated under consumer products regulation .....who knows this time though .

Wow still rolling around the same problem, ECCA is never going to untangle this, they are two conflicting threads they want to follow. You can't play in commercial world and claim impartiality, it's just impossible. I really was only half joking when I suggested earlier that private users need a political group. One that has only a single issue to concentrate on, without being held back by a separate functionary commitment. Vapers for justice could happen, if people really wanted to do it. I have read around all of the forums and the ECCA -UK webpages on this matter today . The vast majority of postings advocate that ECCA simply concentrates on the education and political aspect at the moment . A few peeps make a strong anti- politics case but whats the point of a consumers association if the proposals are not defeated ?. Hopefully some moves within the committee can get something rolling or else !!!! Alan

All I can say at this moment in time, I'm glad we have ECITA who has the know how (and funds) to fight the EU. As if it was down to just ECCA the ban would be in place already! A very true comforting thought .... but still amazed at last nights events , you are right though a ban would be in force by now .

Well done MarkS and Matt 1988 on your appointment as forum rep and treasurer respectively ,but a very annoying night though apart from that , the meeting had a majority of interested members but a number of things happened 1 Trolls .... what purpose of their silly games ? 2 Mud-Slinging between Chris (Roly) and some guy Ged who someone was trying to promote but he wasn't seemingly interested? ..... not a good way to operate a meeting 3 Chris unfortunately dominated the meeting in the early part and I feel sure that most folks wanted the meeting to progress at that stage 4 MarkS your idea of people writing out a covering thread posted on the ECCA website explaining their position and reasons for taking on the various roles is a great one ........ Without false modesty now what about yourself ? Alan It descended into a farce. It did confirm though that if a meeting cannot be moderated and run in a correct manner, ECCA does not have the right people in the job. In fairness there was an element there that had no other intention than to disrupt the meeting and they should have been dealt with swiftly. Alan I have been vaping for 2 months, the position requires someone with experience. It's flattering to be nominated but I would decline for that very reason. i think I will post more on this tomorrow as I'm rather pee'd off with our it all ended to be honest. I agree with what you say about organising and running meetings ..... that was a classic example of how not to do , Like you I have only vaped for 2 months ... I honestly don't think that makes any difference at all ... What is required in the chairman role is someone who has a lot of communication skills , tech savvy , passionate etc etc it makes no difference if you have vaped for 2 months or 2 years . Experience of the outside world of how things operate I agree with that because its that business sense or experience of taking part in meetings that are the skills that are required ..... off the soapbox now . I along with the vast majority who were at the meeting are equally as peeed of as you . Still cannot get my head round the fact of how it degenerated into a total farce !!!! Alan

Over 11,000 have now completed the questionnaire , remember though it will be even more effective if we can also make some contribution to help the research team

I've only recently started vaping, and even more recently found out about ECCA. I've had a quick scan through their website, and unfortunately, can think of nothing constructive to add to what I've just been reading. I understand that ECCA is our consumer organisation and they need us to put forward ideas, but I (as a lot of people are) am more of a follower than an organiser. So, ideas that spring to mind: (I'm sure that detailed searching would help me here, but if this kind of info were all in one place, people may be more likely to jump on board) A lot of people are very apathetic when it comes to political issues, and with this being a political issue, are maybe "waiting to see what happens" A consolidated list of MPs / MEPs and their current status as regards the proposals, would enable folk to focus their efforts convincing the 'nay-sayers', rather than 'hounding' those that are 'on-side'. Information/links/reports/draft letter etc to send to aforementioned MPs/MEPs to help convince them, and quash any misconceptions they may have from disinformation Vendors could maybe offer incentives (read freebies/prizes/whatever) to help get people involved, afterall, it is also their livelyhoods that will be affected.
Vendors could be asked to publicize more prominently the current situation on their websites (I know some do already), to try and make MORE people aware of the problems we face. Sorry if some of this is 'out of turn', 'out of place', not relevant, or anything else, but no one else has put anything. Just trying to do my bit. You make some very good points fred and I agree most people are not political and do not want to get actively involved. All I would ask those people to do is just sign up to ECCA, just join. Every member that joins gives more credence and weight to the orgainisation. Here is a link for where MEP's stand on vaping www.ecigarettedirect.co.uk/ashtray-blog/2013/02/meps-who-supports-vaping-who-is-unsureandwho-wants-a-ban.html but again you are right, this should be up on the ECCA's site, and apologies to anyone from ECCA if it is, it just isn't obvious that it is. Vendors are a cagey area. Although they are a major part of vaping for all of us they have their own body in ECITA. We do need to work with vendors, but there are valid reasons why they cannot be seen to be too involved. Not out of turn or out of place, but exactly what is needed. Thank you and I hope a few more makes posts like yours before the AGM on Sunday night. Good post MarkS check the link again though it isn't working /expired Alan
