I'm wading through it (103 pages) but so far haven't really seen much at all about ecigs. Phoenixflame (Julie) giles There is a huge amount to wade through but as you both say there is not much other than a constant mention of unlicensed products . A grudging reference to being less harmful than tobacco cigarettes is included . Unlicensed products fills me with dread as to what the MHRA will report in its findings - supposedly in the next 1-2 weeks !!! it's in their interests to recommend medicinal / marketing authorisations (money goes to them) I was not a vaper when the last crisis came in 2010-2011 but the govt. NUDGE unit came to the aid of prolonging e-cig use , it may come down to them again !!

In my humble opinion, I don't feel it is a good idea to try fighting the EU with several different organisations or individuals. It needs to be one united front joined together for one big push. I don't know if there are politics involved here as to why ECCA could not join forces with ECITA to fight this one big issue together. afterall, it is in everyones best interest. Surely one big united front is better than separated smaller ones. I agree Blownupdolly certainly behind the scenes close collaboration between ECCA and ECITA in political matters is to be encouraged . However ECITA and anyone connected with the industry is dismissed by the EU as unrepresentative of consumers . A strong ECCA voice has been required for months as the only consumer association who regularly attends EU meetings is from Germany - once ECCA does get re-launched I hope its not too late to get strong collaboration from the various National Consumer Associations to get a common united approach to the EU. If anything remains after the EU fiasco and MHRA and NICE reports to also come the long term aim of ECCA should be as a consumer focussed body

I went to the link on one comment saying how dangerous they were. www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC3636314/It looks like they have taken the data from ecig forums about the negative effects people think they have been getting from vaping. Sorry data may be the wrong word. Posts from vapers doesn't make it data. This so called "study" was rubbished , as you say the info. was obtained by data trawling through forums like this . As we all know a few folks usually noobs will post about dry throats etc.etc. which is all part and parcel of quitting tobacco smoking . The data trawling of course only highlights the negative comments (its a pre-determined outcome) so naturally study results will report great dissatisfaction with e-cigs Unfortunately studies like this type get published quickly , exactly like a recent one commissioned by Cancer Research UK where researchers are looking at Tobacco Harm Reduction - should be a no brainer you would think !!!!! Studies favourable to vaping like some by Dr Farsalinos have struggled for publication ...... I wonder why !!!!!!

From memory ..... please don't take this as gospel
Largely went over old ground just discussing some of the printed amendments 2 or 3 speakers stuck out for me
Gorgeous Glynis Willmott - "Whatever anybody says I will not be convinced" - sticking to the medicinal route
Chairman of ENVI committee Groote - very supportive of e-cigs cannot recall the words but all good
Martina Anderson -Sinn Fein not too much about e-cigs but raging about tobacco ciggies
Nothing like a full account but maybe better than nothing
Just remembered ... missed the very start apparently Linda McAvan stated that the council of ministers were looking like they favoured the medicinal route for e-cigs

Superb stuff ... way to go Clive . He certainly line by line exposes the ridiculous proposed amendment by Ms McAvan ,a far more sensible amendment was the one by R.Taylor/C.Davies which was workable and offered extra consumer protection as well.

Without agreeing with all of Chris's comments it certainly demonstrates the task that is facing us . The brilliant SWOF campaign has raised to date just shy of £19000 , 16000 have taken part in the Dr F Study BUT really these are flea bites when compared to the mega millions that can be brought to bear against us .
It still shows that we cannot be at all complacent FAR MORE needs to be collectively done to support the various campaigns and continue tweeting,e-mailing, writing to MP and MEP.

Interestingly Dr F. could present preliminary findings to the ENVI workshop on 7/5 BUT has had NO invitation .... the plot thickens
